Describe the Organization's Program Activity:

Part 3 - Line 4a

BOSS PROGRAM OFFERS A UNIQUE, MULTI-DISCIPLINARY MENTORING AND LEADERSHIP DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM TO BIPOC BOYS WITH AN ACADEMIC FOCUS ON THE STEM DISCIPLINES IN THE CONTEXT OF AN OVERALL LIFE-SUPPORT SYSTEM. BOSS IS A COST AND PROGRAMMATICALLY EFFECTIVE YEAR-ROUND, MULTI-YEAR PROGRAM THAT TRANSLATES THE MINDSET AND DISCIPLINE OF ACHIEVEMENT IN SPORTS INTO THE GAMIFICATION AND TEAMWORK OF STEM PROJECTS TO BUILD THE FOUNDATIONAL SKILLS NEEDED FOR LONG-TERM SUCCESS IN HIGHER EDUCATION AND, ULTIMATELY, CAREERS IN STEM DISCIPLINES.

BOSS CAMP INCLUDES FACILITY RENTAL, MEALS, FIELD ACTIVITIES, COUNSELING, AND MENTORING. BOSS CAMP IS AN INTENSE TWO WEEK EXPERIENCE THAT BEGINS BOSS YEAR-ROUND PROGRAMMING EVERY SUMMER. BOYS LEARN ABOUT THE BOSS PROCESS OF LEADERSHIP DEVELOPMENT; TAKE NUMEROUS FIELD TRIPS (MICROSOFT, SPACEX, PORT OF LONG BEACH, LAKERS BASKETBALL CLINIC); HEAR FROM ACCOMPLISHED PROFESSIONALS AND PRACTICE THEIR COMMUNICATION SKILLS; SHARPEN CRITICAL THINKING SKILLS; AND ENGAGE WITH THEIR MENTORS TO ESTABLISH MOMENTUM AND A POSITIVE MINDSET FOR SUCCESS IN LIFE AND THE COMING SCHOOL YEAR. BOSS BOYS GET THE OPPORTUNITY TO PARTICIPATE IN THE ANNUAL MATH MADNESS COMPETITION; DESIGN AND BUILD ROBOTICS PROJECTS; AND BUILD AND PRACTICE THEIR CODING SKILLS WHILE LEARNING ABOUT FUTURE STEM CAREER OPPORTUNITIES. WE ARE PLEASED TO REPORT THAT 99% OF HIGH SCHOOL GRADS ARE PURSUING POST-SECONDARY EDUCATION AT A TIME WHEN NEARLY 75% OF THE SAME YOUTH DO NOT QUALIFY TO EVEN APPLY TO COLLEGE AT HIGH SCHOOL GRADUATION, INCLUDING 16 HIGH SCHOOL GRADUATES IN 2024. LEVERAGING OUR TRAIN THE TRAINER STRATEGY, WE HAVE ALSO SUPPORTED 15 COLLEGE STUDENTS TO GRADUATION, INCLUDING SEVERAL PURSUING ADVANCED DEGREES.
