THE WILLIAM O. LOCKRIDGE COMMUNITY FOUNDATION (WOLCF), FOUNDED IN 2011, IS A NON PROFIT ORGANIZATION LOCATED IN SOUTHEAST WASHINGTON, D.C. THE WOLCF PROMOTES ACCESS TO HIGHER EDUCATION TO STUDENTS IN WARDS 7 AND 8 BY OFFERING SCHOLARSHIPS, EMERGENCY FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE TO COLLEGE AND INTERNATIONAL TRAVEL

STUDENTS WERE AWARDED SCHOLARSHIPS TOTALING $24,789 FOR COLLEGE IN THE 2022-2023 ACADEMIC YEAR. COVID-19 IMPACTED THE INTERNATIONAL AMBASSADORS PROGRAM (IAP). THE GOAL OF THE IAP IS TO EXPOSE MIDDLE AND HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS TO INTERNATIONAL TRAVEL TO THE CONTINENT OF AFRICA. THE LAST COHORT OF LOCKRIDGE AMBASSADORS TRAVELED TO GHANA IN AUGUST 2020. WOLCF IS SPONSORING THE NEXT CLASS FOR TRAVEL TO AFRICA IN 2024.


OTHER SPONSORSHIP AND FUNDRAISING ACTIVITIES


DANCING WITH THE SCHOLARS IS WOLCF'S ANNUAL FUNDRAISER TO SUPPORT AND PROVIDE SCHOLARS WITH EDUCATIONAL AND FINANCIAL RESOURCES.


US FOREIGN SERVICE INITIATIVE THE GOAL OF THE USFSI IS TO EXPOSED MIDDLE AND HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS WHO LIVE IN WARDS 7 AND WARD 8 OR ARE RESIDENTS TO PROFESSIONAL AND NONPROFESSIONAL CAREER OPTIONS OVERSEAS WITH THE U.S. GOVERNMENT AND PRIVATE SECTOR, NOT ONLY IN AFRICA BUT AROUND THE WORLD.
