ORGANIZED PANELS, WEBINARS, AND READING GROUPS TO FACILITATE SPACES FOR CONVERSATION AND EDUCATE THE PUBLIC ON THE HUMAN RIGHTS ISSUES AND INJUSTICES CREATED BY US-LED POLICIES AND STRATEGIES IN THE AMERICAS. THIS INCLUDED HOSTING THE DISMANTLING BORDERS BOOK CLUB WITH SEVERAL AUTHORS SPEAKING TO THE WAR ON TERROR, GLOBAL MIGRATION AND RACIST NATIONALISM, AND BORDER PATROL AND IMMIGRANT RIGHTS AS WELL AS WEBINARS ON WATER AND LAND DEFENDERS IN HONDURAS, AND PEACE AND ELECTIONS IN COLOMBIA. WE ALSO SUPPORTED MONTHLY VIGILS TO REMEMBER AND CONTINUE THE ONGOING QUEST FOR ACCOUNTABILITY FOR THE 2012 MURDER OF JOS ANTONIO ELENA RODRIGUEZ.


ORGANIZED IN COLLABORATION WITH PARTNER ORGANIZATIONS A DELEGATION TO GUATEMALA AND HONDURAS FOCUSED ON THE REAL ROOT CAUSES OF MASS MIGRATION FROM CENTRAL AMERICA, WITH FOLLOW-UP WEBINAR AND EDUCATIONAL EVENTS. THE DELEGATION INCLUDED U.S. CONGRESS MEMBERS, SOCIAL MOVEMENT ORGANIZATIONS IN CENTRAL AMERICA, AND HISTORIC U.S.-BASED SOLIDARITY ORGANIZATIONS.


ORGANIZED IN COLLABORATION WITH MANY PARTNERS A BORDER CONVENING WITH EDUCATIONAL PANELS, VIGILS, NONVIOLENT MOBILIZATION, MUSIC AND ART TO HONOR THE 2012 MURDER OF JOS ANTONIO ELENA RODRIGUEZ AND TO SUPPORT THE ONGOING FIGHT FOR JUSTICE.


CONTINUED TO RESEARCH AND EDUCATE THE PUBLIC ABOUT HUMAN RIGHTS VIOLATIONS BY SOA/WHINSEC GRADUATES, INSTRUCTORS AND OTHER RECIPIENTS OF U.S. MILITARY TRAINING IN THE WESTERN HEMISPHERE THROUGH LECTURES AND SPEAKING ENGAGEMENTS TO UNIVERSITIES CLASSES AS WELL AS COORDINATING/MANAGING COLLEGE INTERNS AND VOLUNTEERS INTO OUR PROGRAMMING WORK.
