THE MISSION OF THE HELIO FOUNDATION IS TO SERVE THE UNDERSERVED WITHIN OUR COMMUNITY.

THE MOVING COMMUNITY FORWARD PROGRAM ASSISTED FAMILIES IN BOTH DIRECTLY REBUILDING DAMAGED HOMES, REPLACING LOST HOME GOODS AND RESTOCKING FOOD GOODS LOST DUE TO HURRICANE IDA. THE INDIVIDUALS PARTICIPATING IN THIS PROGRAM WERE REFERRED THROUGH COMMUNITY LEADERS.


THE EMERGENCY FUNDS PROGRAM ALLOCATED $400.00 PER FAMILY FOR ANY FAMILY WITHIN OUR SERVICE AREA DIRECTLY EFFECTED BY HURRICANE IDA. THESE FUNDS WERE USED FOR FUEL AND FOOD NECESSARY FOR BASIC SURVIVAL IN THE DAYS AND WEEKS FOLLOWING THE STORM. FAMILIES LIVING IN TENTS AND SHANTYS WERE ALLOCATED $1000.00 COMMUNITY LEADERS REFERRED THESE INDIVIDUALS TO THE ORGANIZATION. THE ORGANIZATION DID NOT RECEIVE ANY REVENUE FROM THIS PROGRAM. THE FUNDS USED FOR THIS PROGRAM WERE DONATED BY THE PUBLIC.


THE FLOAT THE BOAT PROGRAM ASSISTED INDEPENDENT COMMERCIAL FISHERMEN IN REPLACING EQUIPMENT AND REPAIRING DAMAGES DUE TO HURRICANE IDA. EACH FAMILY WAS ALLOSED UP TO $4,999.00. THIS ALLOWED THE FISHERMEN TO GET BACK TO WORK MUCH QUICKER AND BEGIN REBUILDING THEIR FAMILIES LIVES AND LIVELIHOOD. NO REVENUE WAS MADE FROM THIS PROGRAM. THE FUNDS USED WERE FROM DONATIONS RECEIVED FROM THE PUBLIC. THE ORGANIZATION RECEIVED A $50,000 GRANT FROM THE GREATER NEW ORLEANS FOUNDATION TO HELP WITH THIS PROGRAM. THE REMAINDER OF THESE FUNDS WERE DONATED BY THE PUBLIC.
