THE SPAFFORD CHILDREN'S CENTER SCC IN EAST JERUSALEM FOUND ITS NEEDS INCREASE IN 2021 AS THE EDUCATION OF EAST JERUSALEM CHILDREN WAS UPENDED BY THE PANDEMIC. MANY CHILDREN DO NOT HAVE ACCESS TO SUFFICIENT ONLINE CLASSROOM RESOURCES AND GRADES FOR MANY SLIPPED. THE SCC MET THIS NEED BY FOCUSING ON TUTORING FOR THOSE STUDENTS MOST AFFECTED. THE PANDEMIC AND SUBSEQUENT SOCIETAL VIOLENCE IN MAY 2021 ALSO EXACERBATED A NEED FOR TRAUMA THERAPY AND THE AFSCC RAISED FUNDS TO HIRE A TRAUMA THERAPIST WHO NOW WORKS WITH DOZENS OF CHILDREN. FUNDING SOURCES FOR THE SCC DROPPED AS SOME INTERNATIONAL CHARITIES DIRECTED THEIR GIVING TOWARDS COVID-19 AND SO IT BECAME NECESSARY FOR THE AFSCC TO MAKE UP SOME OF THAT REVENUE LOSS EXPLAINING THE LARGER GRANT TRANSFER IN 2021.
