YAY BIKES! TAKES AN ACTIVE ROLE IN TRYING TO ACTIVELY INFLUENCE THE CONDITIONS THAT HELP PEOPLE SAFELY AND COMFORTABLY RIDE BICYCLES FOR TRANSPORTATION. TO ACCOMPLISH ITS MISSION, THE ORGANIZATION PARTICIPATES IN VARIOUS BICYCLE ADVOCACY ACTIVITIES INCLUDING HAVING AN ACTIVE SOCIAL MEDIA PRESENCE, ATTENDING PUBLIC MEETINGS RELATED TO BICYCLE INFRASTRUCTURE, SERVING ON VARIOUS PLANNING FORUMS, AND WRITING LETTERS OF SUPPORT FOR VARIOUS PROJECTS THAT SUPPORT OUR GOALS.
BIKE THE CBUS: BIKE THE CBUS IS OUR SIGNATURE EVENT EACH YEAR. IT IS A SELF-GUIDED RIDE HELD IN SEPTEMBER HIGHLIGHTING COLUMBUS UNIQUE AND EVOLVING CENTER-RING NEIGHBORHOODS. PARTICIPANTS CAN CHOOSE THREE DIFFERENT ROUTES RANGING FROM 10-62 MILES EXPLORING THE CITY AND EXPERIENCING REST STOPS PROVIDED BY LOCAL ORGANIZATIONS AND VENDORS.
RIDE OF SILENCE: THIS ANNUAL RIDE HONORS CYCLISTS KILLED OR INJURED ON PUBLIC ROADWAYS, AND RAISES AWARENESS OF CYCLISTS RIGHT TO THE ROAD. IT IS A SHORT, SLOW, AND SILENT PROCESSIONAL WITH HUNDREDS OF CENTRAL OHIO CYCLISTS JOINING AN INTERNATIONAL MOVEMENT TO HONOR CYCLISTS KILLED OR INJURED WHILE RIDING ON PUBLIC ROADWAYS.
