PROMOTES AND ADVANCES HIGHWAY SAFETY AND A SAFE TRUCKING INDUSTRY THROUGH RESEARCH, EDUCATION, AND PROMOTIONAL PROJECTS. FOSTERS EDUCATIONAL OPPORTUNITIES FOR INDIVIDUALS IN THE INDUSTRY.

PLANNED AND STAGED 10 SHARE THE ROAD SAFETY EVENTS THROUGHOUT THE STATE, INCLUDING PRESENTATIONS TO HIGH SCHOOLS, SAFETY FAIRS, AND OTHER VENUES WITH APPROX. 300 IN ATTENDANCE AT THE EVENTS. THE GOAL OF THE PROGRAM WAS TO TRAIN PARTICIPANTS ON HOW TO SAFELY SHARE THE ROAD WITH LARGE TRUCKS AND BUSES. AWARDED TEN SCHOLARSHIPS TOTALING 15,000 AND CONTRACTED WITH SCHOLARSHIP MANAGEMENT SERVICES TO SCREEN APPLICANTS, VERIFY INFORMATION AND MAKE FINAL RECOMMENDATIONS. TEN DEPENDENTS OF TRUCKING INDUSTRY EMPLOYEES RECEIVED 1,500 SCHOLARSHIPS. OUR SAFETY AWARDS PROGRAM RECOGNIZED COMPANIES AND INDIVIDUALS WHO HAVE CONTRIBUTED TO IMPROVED TRUCK SAFETY IN AZ. CO-SPONSORS OF THE NON-CASH AWARDS WERE THE AZ DEPT. OF PUBLIC SAFETY, J. J. KELLER AND ASSOCIATES, AND TRANSTAR INSURANCE BROKERS WHO ALSO PROVIDED A 1,000 CASH AWARD TO THE ARIZONA DRIVER OF THE YEAR. WE ARE PROUD TO ANNOUNCE THE COMPLETION OF 20,850 OF A 32,465 GRANT FROM THE GOVERNORS OFFICE OF HIGHWAY SAFETY GOHS FOR FY2021. DUE TO COVID RESTRICTIONS, NOT ALL PROGRAMS COULD BE HELD.
