TRULEE HALL LADIES LAIR LAKE:LADIES' LAIR LAKE WAS A MULTIMEDIA EXHIBITION BY ARTIST TRULEE HALL, PRESENTED BY LAND FROM FEBRUARY 16 MARCH 27, 2022. LADIES' LAIR LAKE INVITED VIEWERS TO IMMERSE THEMSELVES IN HALL'S UNIVERSE, AN UNCOMPROMISING EXPERIENCE BRINGING TO LIFE THE BODY OF WORK THROUGH VIDEO, SCULPTURE, PAINTING, AND INSTALLATION. VIEWERS WERE ABLE TO WANDER THROUGH HALL'S MYTHICAL WORLD AND ENGAGE WITH ITS CHARACTERS, INTIMATELY EXPERIENCING THEIR STORIES. THE GROUNDBREAKING EXHIBITION PRESENTED A VARIETY OF TECHNIQUES AND MEDIUMS, INCLUDING CGI, CLAYMATION PUPPETRY, GREEN SCREEN, FOUND NATURE FOOTAGE, LIVE ACTION, PAINTED DIMENSIONAL SETS, COSTUMES, MAKEUP, AND NEWLY COMPOSED MUSIC ALONGSIDE A CHOIR.

IT WAS A POTENT VISUAL INTERVENTION MADE FROM ESSAYS, POEMS, LETTERS, STORIES, DIAGRAMS AND NOTES WRITTEN BY PEOPLE IN PRISON AROUND THE WORLD.SYLVIA WYNTER COURSE - LAND, IN PARTNERSHIP WITH LOS ANGELES CONTEMPORARY ARCHIVE (LACA), PRESENTED A FREE HYBRID COURSE ON JAMAICAN PHILOSOPHER, DRAMATIST, AND NOVELIST SYLVIA WYNTER. THE COURSE INCLUDED FOUR WEEKS OF SOCIAL STUDY AND A ONE-DAY SCREENING FACILITATED BY MANUEL ARTURO ABREU.ISABEL YELLIN: PILLAR OF THE INTANGIBLE -IN PARTNERSHIP WITH FRIEZE SCULPTURE, LAND (LOS ANGELES NOMADIC DIVISION) COMMISSIONED A NEW SCULPTURE BY LOS ANGELES-BASED ARTIST ISABEL YELLIN ENTITLED PILLAR OF THE INTANGIBLE. THIS WAS YELLIN'S FIRST PUBLIC COMMISSION, AND AT 9 FEET TALL, THE LARGEST ITERATION OF HER WORK TO DATE.SON. - LAND SUPPORTS THE ONGOING PROGRAMMING OF ARTIST/CURATOR JUSTEN LEROY, SON. SON. IS A PLATFORM THAT AIMS TO SHOWCASE THE "MULTI-DIMENSIONAL EXPERIENCE OF THE BLACK MALE IDENTITY." SINCE 2019 SON. HAS PROGRAMMED OUT OF TOUCHED BY AN ANGEL, A BARBERSHOP AND COMMUNITY HUB IN SOUTH CENTRAL LOS ANGELES RUN BY LEROY'S FATHER. SON.'S AMBITION IS TO INFUSE THE DIALOGUE OF THIS SPACE WITH SELF-AWARENESS OF MASCULINITY, THEREBY UPENDING THE NORMS OF SUCH DISCOURSE TO MAKE IT MORE INCLUSIVE.LANDXAIR IS LAND'S ONGOING ARTIST RESIDENCY, PROVIDING SUPPORT FOR THE DEVELOPMENT OF ARTISTS' PRACTICES AND NEW BODIES OF WORK IN SITE-SPECIFIC CONTEXTS. FUTURE CONTINUOUS WAS AN ONLINE SERIES EXPLORING THE INTERSECTION OF LOS ANGELES AND NOTIONS OF FUTURITY, INCLUDING WORKS BY ARTISTS, PHILOSOPHERS, AND WRITERS SUCH AS DANIEL R. SMALL, CANDICE LIN, NORMAN KLEIN AND MILJOHN RUPERTO. LAND IS COMMITTED TO A BROAD ARRANGE OF PROGRAMMING FOSTERING ARTISTS AND CURATORS WORKING IN EXPERIMENTAL MEDIA. THROUGH OUR ONGOING PROGRAM SERIES, FRAME RATE AND NOMADIC NIGHTS, LAND IS ABLE TO SUPPORT ARTISTS ON NEW FILM, AUDIO, AND/OR PERFORMANCE PROJECTS.
N2EXISTENCE:A SOLUTION-BASED MOVEMENT THAT ENABLES PEOPLE TO USE THEIR PASSIONS TO MANIFEST NEW REALITIES OF FREEDOM BY ARTIST AARON FOWLER. LAND PRESENTED AN IMMERSIVE INSTALLATION OF N2EXISTENCE IN INGLEWOOD NEIGHBORHOOD OF LA. CONNECTING WITH CREATIVES FROM AN ARRAY OF DISCIPLINES INCLUDING MUSIC, FASHION, DESIGN, & CULINARY ARTS, FOWLER AIMS TO SUPPORT HIS COLLABORATORS BY PROVIDING A PLATFORM FOR THEM TO SHARE THEIR WORK, AND EXPERIENCE THE MAGIC OF COLLABORATION AND CREATION. TO SUPPORT THIS EXPANSION OF N2EXISTENCE, LAND PARTNERED WITH A RANGE OF LOCAL ORGANIZATIONS INCLUDING SOLE FOLKS, THE CALIFORNIA AFRICAN AMERICAN MUSEUM, HANK'S MINI MARKET, AND ART + PRACTICE, TO DEEPEN ENGAGEMENT AND IDENTIFY COMMUNITY CHALLENGES AND VISIONS.
WOMANHOUSE ANNIVERSARY PROJECT:TO CELEBRATE THE 50TH ANNIVERSARY AND EXPAND UPON NARRATIVES SURROUNDING THE HISTORIC ENVIRONMENTAL ART INSTALLATION AND PERFORMANCE SPACE, LAND PARTNERED WITH ANAT EBGI GALLERY TO PRESENT A DYNAMIC PERFORMANCE AND EVENTS SERIES IN SUPPORT OF THEIR EXHIBITION WOMANHOUSE. THIS EXHIBITION EXAMINED THE SPIRIT OF EXPERIMENTATION AND COLLABORATION THAT DEFINED WEST COAST FEMINIST ART AND TRACED THE PERIOD THAT IMMEDIATELY PRECEDED AND SUCCEEDED WOMANHOUSE FROM 1970 TO 1976. THE PROGRAMS INCLUDED A RESTAGING OF HISTORIC PERFORMANCES, CONSCIOUSNESS-RAISING SESSIONS, AND FILM SCREENINGS, AND INCLUDED PARTICIPANTS FROM THE ORIGINAL WOMANHOUSE ALONGSIDE YOUNGER AND EMERGING ARTISTS IN ORDER TO REIMAGINE AND COMPLICATE IDEAS RELEVANT TO OUR CONTEMPORARY MOMENT.
