HOME OWNERSHIP COUNSELING - THE ORGANIZATION PROVIDES HOMEBUYER EDUCATION AND COUNSELING, FORECLOSURE PREVENTION EDUCATION AND COUNSELING, AND FINANCIAL EDUCATION AND COUNSELING. IN HOMEBUYER EDUCATION AND COUNSELING, THE ORGANIZATION'S SERVICES INCLUDE EIGHT-HOUR EDUCATIONAL WORKSHOPS AND INDIVIDUAL COUNSELING FOR FIRST-TIME HOMEBUYERS. THE FORECLOSURE PREVENTION PROGRAM WORKS WITH FAMILIES WHO ARE IN DANGER OF LOSING THEIR HOMES TO DEVELOP A BUDGET, EVALUATE THEIR OPTIONS, AND NEGOTIATE WITH THEIR MORTGAGE SERVICERS FOR THE BEST POSSIBLE OUTCOME. THE FINANCIAL EDUCATION AND COUNSELING SERVICES (THE "BOUNCE BACK" PROGRAM) CURRENTLY TARGET HOMEOWNERS WHO HAVE RECOVERED FROM DEFAULT. THE GOAL OF THE PROGRAM IS TO STRENGTHEN PARTICIPANTS' FINANCES SO THAT THEY CAN AVOID FUTURE DEFAULT AND REBUILD ASSETS. COUNSELING SERVICES ARE PROVIDED IN THE HYATTSVILLE, GERMANTOWN AND GAITHERSBURG OFFICES.
