Describe the Organization's Program Activity:

Part 3 - Line 4a

CENTERS FOR EXCELLENCE: THE BOARDING SCHOOLS, THE KAKENYA CENTERS FOR EXCELLENCE (KCE I AND II), SERVED 324 GIRLS IN 2022 IN GRADES 4-12 IN A SAFE, SUPPORTIVE ENVIRONMENT. IN ADDITION TO PROVIDING A WORLD-CLASS EDUCATION, THE HOLISTIC PROGRAMMING ENSURES EACH AND EVERY GIRLS UNIQUE PHYSICAL, SOCIAL, AND EMOTIONAL NEEDS ARE MET SO THAT SHE CAN ACHIEVE HER FULL POTENTIAL. SEE SCHEDULE O FOR A DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THIS PROGRAM SERVICE.

HEALTH AND LEADERSHIP: WITH EXTREMELY LIMITED HEALTHCARE RESOURCES AND EDUCATION IN THE REGION, MOST COMMUNITY MEMBERS KNOW LITTLE ABOUT THEIR BODIES OR RIGHTS. THIS LACK OF SEXUAL HEALTH AND RIGHTS-BASED EDUCATION LEADS TO INCREASED RATES OF FEMALE GENITAL MUTILATION (FGM), CHILD MARRIAGE, UNPLANNED TEENAGE PREGNANCY, AND CYCLICAL INTERGENERATIONAL POVERTY. TO COMBAT THESE PROBLEMS, WE EQUIP THE STUDENTS AND BOYS AND GIRLS IN PARTNER SCHOOLS ACROSS RURAL KENYA WITH COMPREHENSIVE SEX EDUCATION, INFORMATION ABOUT THE DANGERS OF FGM AND CHILD MARRIAGE, KNOWLEDGE OF THEIR LEGAL RIGHTS, AND LIFE SKILLS TRAINING THROUGH THE HEALTH AND LEADERSHIP TRAINING PROGRAM. WE HAVE REACHED OVER 19,000 GIRLS AND BOYS IN 131 SCHOOLS WITH THESE VITAL TRAININGS. SEE SCHEDULE O FOR A DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THIS PROGRAM SERVICE.

NETWORK FOR EXCELLENCE: OUR COMMITMENT TO THE STUDENTS DOES NOT END WHEN THEY LEAVE THE BOARDING SCHOOLS. WE SUPPORT THEM AS THEY CONTINUE ON TO HIGH SCHOOL AND HIGHER EDUCATION THROUGH THE NETWORK FOR EXCELLENCE PROGRAM. WE HAVE PROVIDED OVER 500 STUDENTS WITH MENTORSHIP, SCHOLARSHIPS, ACADEMIC SUPPORT, CONTINUED LEADERSHIP TRAINING, AND VOCATIONAL COUNSELING. SEE SCHEDULE O FOR A DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THIS PROGRAM SERVICE.
