PROVIDE EDUCATIONAL COURSES, WORKSHOPS, AND ON-SITE AND ONLINE RESOURCES FOR TRAINING MUSICIANS, PASTORS, AND LAYPERSONS AND RESEARCH IN THE FIELD OF CHURCH MUSIC.

PROGRAMS - CMI'S PROGRAMS AND SACRED MUSIC LIBRARIES HAVE PARTICIPATION FROM EVERY STATE IN THE U.S., CANADA, EUROPE, AND ASIA. JOINT WEBINARS IN 2021 WITH THE AMERICAN GUILD OF ORGANISTS AND THE AMERICAN CHORAL DIRECTORS ASSOCIATION WERE ATTENDED BY 363 AND SOME 3,500, RESPECTIVELY. DUE TO RESTRICTIONS IMPOSED BY THE CORONAVIRUS-19 PANDEMIC, ALL OTHER WORKSHOPS AND MUSIC FESTIVALS SIMILAR TO THOSE CONDUCTED IN PRIOR YEARS WERE REPLACED IN EACH OF 8 MONTHS WITH ON-LINE AND HYBRID OFFERINGS ATTENDED BY 415 LEAD BY 14 FACILITATORS. CONTINUATION OF THE LILLY PEER LEARNING PROJECT TO INFORM, ENERGIZE, AND ENGAGE CONGREGATIONS AND THEIR LEADERS FOR A MORE VITAL WORSHIP LIFE INVOLVED 4 PASTOR-MUSICIAN TEAMS FROM COLORADO, CONNECTICUT, AND TEXAS.


SACRED MUSIC LIBRARY - THE REFERENCE LIBRARY AND VIRTUAL, ONLINE SEARCHABLE DATABASE FOR STUDY AND EVALUATION HOLDS SOME 38,400 WORKS (22,000 CHORAL - 16,400 ORGAN) FROM COLLECTIONS OF PROMINENT MUSICIANS, CHORAL DIRECTORS, AND CHURCHES, AS WELL AS RECENTLY PUBLISHED COMPOSITIONS. ACQUISITIONS IN 2021 WERE FROM 5 CHURCHES, 4 PERSONAL LIBRARIES, 2 OTHER ORGANIZATIONS, AND BOOKS AND OCTAVOS (MORE THAN 2,000 EACH) FROM THE LIBRARY OF FR. JAN MICHAEL JONCAS AT THE UNIVERSITY OF ST. THOMAS. THE CMI WEBSITE IS INCLUDED IN THE "PERFORMING ARTS WEB ARCHIVE" OF THE U.S. LIBRARY OF CONGRESS. THERE WERE MORE THAN 70,000 DATABASE PAGES ACCESSED DURING THE YEAR. A RODGERS HYBRID ORGAN MODEL 205 IS AVAILABLE FOR TEACHING AND DEMONSTRATION PURPOSES.
