TREE PLANTING: WORKING IN COLLABORATION WITH GOVERNMENT AGRICULTURAL DEPARTMENTS, FARMER ASSOCIATIONS,CHURCHES, AND OTHER NGOS, WE DISTRIBUTED APPROXIMATELY 61,381 QUALITY FRUIT TREES, MAINLY TO SMALLHOLDER FARMERS AND OTHER GROUPS AND INDIVIDUALS. WE SCREEN OUR BENEFICIARIES FOR AGRICULTURAL KNOWLEDGE AND OTHER CRITERIA. WE PURCHASE TREE SAPLINGS LOCALLY WHERE POSSIBLE OR IMPORT WHERE NECESSARY. THEN WE DISTRIBUTE FOR FREE. SUBSEQUENTLY WE MONITOR THROUGH EMAIL, PHONE CALLS AND GPS LOCATIONS. TREE PLANTING IS OUR CORE MISSION. WE OPERATE OTHER SUPPORTING PROGRAMS TO ENCOURAGE TREE SURVIVAL,IMPROVE FOOD SECURITY, AND TO REAP ECONOMIC BENEFITS FOR THE LOCAL COMMUNITIES WE SERVE.
SCHOOL FEEDING: WE DISTRIBUTED OVER 28,000 POUNDS OF BREADFRUIT FLOUR AND OTHER FOOD PRODUCTS, PRODUCED LOCALLY IN HAITI AND JAMAICA. THE FOOD PROVIDES OVER 250,000 MEALS TO 8,000 CHILDREN IN 50 SCHOOLS AND ORPHANAGES. WE PURCHASE THE FOOD FROM LOCAL ENTREPRENEURS AND DISTRIBUTE FOR FREE. THIS PROGRAM ENCOURAGES TREE SURVIVAL, BOOSTS SMALL AGRIBUSINESSES AND IMPROVED NUTRITION AND EDUCATION IN YOUNG SCHOOLCHILDREN.
EQUIPMENT AND TRAINING: WE PROVIDED FOOD PROCESSING EQUIPMENT INCLUDING GRINDERS, SHREDDERS AND DEHYDRATORS TO NINE ENTREPRENEURS. FRESH FRUIT IS TRANSFORMED INTO TASTY FOOD PRODUCTS WITH A LONG SHELF LIFE. WE PROVIDE BASIC TRAINING IN THE USE OF EQUIPMENT AND ENTREPRENEURSHIP.
