WE CONTINUED TO REBUILD OUR VOLUNTEER TEAM DURING 2022. WHILE WE GAINED SEVERAL NEW VOLUNTEERS, WE LOST SEVERAL VOLUNTEERS WHO "RETIRED" FROM SERVICE. VOLUNTEERS HAVE BEEN INSTRUMENTAL IN HELPING IN FOUR SPECIFIC AREAS AT STAFFORD HOSPITAL: WELCOME DESK, PATIENT ACCESS, SAME DAY SURGERY, AND THE GIFT SHOP. IN 2022, WE HAD APPROXIMATELY 39 ACTIVE VOLUNTEERS, 1 COLLEGE STUDENT VOLUNTEER, AND 13 JUNIOR VOLUNTEERS, WHO ACCUMULATED VOLUNTEER 8,313.53 HOURS. 2022 HIGHLIGHTS: VOLUNTEER APPRECIATION LUNCHEON HELD IN CONJUNCTION WITH VOLUNTEER APPRECIATION WEEK. LONG TIME VOLUNTEER DAVID YOUNG WAS HONORED UPON HIS RETIREMENT FROM VOLUNTEERING AFTER ACCUMULATING OVER 10,000 HOURS OF VOLUNTEERISM. BAGS FOR L/D PATIENTS 696; $5,515 STUFFED BEARS GIVEN TO DEPARTING NEW PARENTS/SAME DAY SURGERY PEDIATRIC PATIENTS 1,966; $10,325 INFUSION BLANKETS GIVEN TO INFUSION OUT-PATIENTS 12 PURCHASED TRAINING DEVICE FOR STROKE/HEARTH ATTACKS - $9,250 PURCHASED ISIMULATE TRAINING MONITORS FOR FETAL HEATBEAT & CONTRACTIONS - $4,900 STARS OF LOVE DONATION TO THE STAFFORD HOSPITAL "BEST PLACE TO WORK COUNCIL" -$5,000 DONATED $5,000 TO MARY WASHINGTON HOSPICE MADE $2,500 DONATION FOR A CANCER PATIENT TO PLAY IN THE 2022 STAFFORD CUP GOLF TOURNAMENT.
