MUSEUM OPERATIONS: COLLECT, RESTORE, MAINTAIN AND DISPLAY HISTORICALLY SIGNIFICANT SAIL, POWER AND STEAM VESSELS, ENGINES AND RELATED MARITIME ARTIFACTS THAT PLAYED A ROLE IN THE EVOLUTION OF THE MARITIME INDUSTRY IN ROCKLAND AND THE STATE OF MAINE. MUSEUM OPERATIONS: COLLECT, RESTORE, MAINTAIN, AND DISPLAY HISTORICALLY SIGNIFICANT EXHIBITS RELATED TO THE EVOLUTION OF THE MARITIME AND RELATED INDUSTRIES IN ROCKLAND AND THE STATE OF MAINE. MANY PROGRAMS ARE FREE AND OPEN TO THE PUBLIC. PROGRAMS RANGE FROM VOLUNTEER-RUN BOAT RESTORATIONS TO MUSEUM EXHIBITS TO IN-PERSON AND MULTI-MEDIA SPEAKER SERIES TO SAILING AND NAVIGATION PROGRAMS SUCH AS OUR MIDCOAST SAILING CENTER AND SKFF (OUR FREE YOUTH SAILING PROGRAM) WHICH USE BOTH CONTEMPORARY AND HISTORICALLY SIGNIFICANT VESSELS AS WELL AS CLASSROOM INSTRUCTION. OTHER PROGRAMS EDUCATE THROUGH FEATURE ARTICLES, PRESS RELEASES, SOCIAL MEDIA, AND NEWSLETTERS.
