NCCS HOUSING FAMILIES FIRST NON-PROFIT HOUSING CORPORATION'S MISSION IS TO PROVIDE SAFE, AFFORDABLE HOUSING FOR HOMELESS FAMILIES WITH CHILDREN IN NEWAYGO AND LAKE COUNTIES.

THROUGH FUNDING FROM MSHDA, TRUENORTH WAS ABLE TO BUILD FOUR DUPLEXES FOR HOMELESS FAMILIES WITH CHILDREN. HOUSING FOUR FAMILIES IN LAKE COUNTY AND FOUR FAMILIES IN NEWAYGO COUNTY, TRUENORTH PROVIDES CASE MANAGEMENT FOR EACH FAMILY DURING TENURE IN THE DUPLEXES. EACH FAMILY MEETS REGULARLY WITH THEIR CASE MANAGER TO SET SELF-SUFFICIENCY GOALS, IDENTIFY AREAS TO FOCUS ON, AND WORK ON IMPROVING FAMILY FUNCTIONING. RESIDENCE IN THE HOMELESS DUPLEX IS NOT LIMITED TO A SPECIFIC TIME PERIOD BUT RATHER WHEN CLIENTS REACH A POINT OF SELF-SUFFICIENCY. THE DUPLEXES ALSO QUALIFY AS PROJECT-BASED HOUSING CHOICE VOUCHERS ALTHOUGH SOME RESIDENTS ARE ALSO REQUIRED TO CONTRIBUTE TOWARDS THE RENT.
