THE MISSION OF THE AFRICAN AMERICAN PERFORMING ARTS CENTER FOUNDATION IS TO PRESERVE, NURTURE AND SUPPORT THE INTELLECTUAL AND CULTURAL HISTORY OF AFRICAN AMERICANS IN NEW MEXICO AND THE SOUTHWEST.

DURING THE MONTH OF FEBRUARY, AAPAC, ALONG WITH MUSICAL THEATRE SOUTHWEST HOSTED DREAMGIRLS FROM FEBRUARY 7 - 23, 2020. OF THE NINE SHOWS, SIX WERE SELL OUTS WITH A WAITING LIST. APPROXIMATELY 3,000 PEOPLE CAME TO AAPAC TO WITNESS A PRODUCTION OF A MOSTLY AFRICAN AMERICAN CAST. DUE TO THE CORONAVIRUS, AAPAC HOSTED THREE VIRTUAL CONCERTS, AND AN AMATEUR NIGHT. AAPAC ALSO PARTICIPATED IN A VIRTUAL STATE-WIDE JUNETEENTH EVENT.
