THE ORGANIZATION OPERATES A BASEBALL LEAGUE FOR CHILDREN AND ADULTS WITH SPECIAL NEEDS.

THE MIRACLE LEAGUE OF DES MOINES KIWANIS OPERATES A BASEBALL LEAGUE AND FACILITY FOR CHILDREN AND ADULTS WITH SPECIAL NEEDS, WITHOUT COST TO THE PARTICIPANT. DURING THE YEAR 2021, THE LEAGUE OPENED WITH MODIFIED PLAYING CONDITIONS FOR THE SPRING SEASON, BUT CLOSED FOR THE FALL SEASON. BECAUSE MANY OF OUR PLAYERS ARE IMMUNO-COMPROMISED, THE ORGANIZATION CANCELED THE FALL SEASON OUT OF CONCERN FOR PLAYER SAFETY. IN 2021, WORK WAS COMPLETED AT THE FACILITY TO INSTALL BLEACHER AWNINGS TO INCREASE THE COMFORT OF PARENTS AND PLAYERS DURING HOT SUMMER DAYS. THE NEW AWNINGS MAY ALLOW THE ORGANIZATION TO PLAY DURING MONTHS THAT OTHERWISE MAY BE TOO HOT. THE ORGAINIZATION IS LOOKING FORWARD TO RESUMING NORMAL LEAGUE OPERATIONS AND WELCOMING OUR PLAYERS AND COACHES BACK TO THE PARK IN THE SPRING OF 2022.
