THE DENALI ONCOLOGY GROUP PROVIDES EDUCATIONAL OPPORTUNITIES FOR THE ONCOLOGY COMMUNITY IN ALASKA, NORMALLY HOSTING A BUSINESS MEETING IN THE SPRING AND A CLINICAL MEETING IN THE FALL. DUE TO COVID-19, IN 2021 THERE WAS NO BUSINESS MEETING. HAVING A VIRTUAL MEETING IS CHALLENGING BECAUSE OF OUR SMALL, VOLUNTEER ORGANIZATION AND THE ADDED COST THIS WOULD PRESENT. WE DID HOST AN IN-PERSON CLINICAL MEETING IN VALDEZ, ALASKA, WHICH WAS CONSIDERED A SUCCESS BY THE ONCOLOGISTS IN ATTENDANCE. THERE WERE APPROXIMATELY 45 PEOPLE IN ATTENDANCE FOR THE CONFERENCE AUGUST 20-22, 2021. SIX GUEST SPEAKERS CAME FROM ACROSS THE UNITED STATES TO TEACH VARIES ONCOLOGY TECHNIQUES. VERY GOOD RESULTS WHILE NAVIGATING COVID-19. EVERYONE WORE A MASK AND WERE SPACED AT LEAST 6 FEET APART. OUR EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR ACCOMPLISHED MOST OF THE TASKS FOR THE CONFERENCE. DR. KLIX WORKED ON GETTING THE MEETING CERTIFIED FOR CME THROUGH PROVIDENCE HOSPITAL.
