EMPOWERING WOMEN AND GIRLS AFFECTED BY WAR WITH THE TOOLS TO RISE OUT OF EXTREME POVERTY.VISIONBUILD SOCIAL, ECONOMIC AND POLITICAL EQUITY FOR WOMEN AND GIRLS IN AFRICA.

Part 3 - Line 4a

PROVIDING TRAININGS TO 1,729 NEW PARTICIPANTS IN PERMA GARDENS AND FIELD CROP PRODUCTION AND CONTINUED SUPPORT TO 2,254. THE PERMA GARDEN PROGRAM HELPS PARTICIPANTS DEVELOP A "KITCHEN GARDEN" TO PROVIDE FOOD SECURITY THROUGHOUT THE YEAR. 90% OF PARTICIPANTS CREATED A GARDEN AND ARE FOOD SECURE, HAVE INCREASED DISPOSABLE INCOME AND ARE ABLE TO SHARE FOOD WITH NEIGHBORS. 2,001 OF PARTICIPANTS ARE REFUGEES FROM SOUTH SUDAN LIVING IN CAMPS IN UGANDA. THE FIELD CROP PROGRAM FOCUSES ON SOIL FERTILITY AND WATER CONSERVATION TO INCREASE YIELDS. BOTH PROGRAMS PROVIDE MONTHLY SUPPORT THROUGH COMMUNITY EXTENSION WORKERS. AGRICULTURAL PROGRAMS PROVIDE FOOD AND INCOME TO OVER 25,000 DEPENDENTS. PARTICIPANTS IN BOTH PROGRAMS PLANTED 100,000 FRUIT AND NATIVE TREES.


COSTS SHARED BY ALL PROGRAMS SUCH AS OFFICE SPACE, PHONE AND INTERNET, BANK FEES, TRANSPORT, STAFF EDUCATION, REPAIRS ETC.


PROVIDED TRAINING IN VILLAGE SAVINGS AND LOANS ASSOCIATIONS AND INCOME GENERATING ACTIVITIES TO 2,744 NEW PARTICIPANTS AND CONTINUED TO PROVIDE SUPPORT TO 8,700 WOMEN. 1,093 NEW BUSINESS WERE STARTED. MEMBERS RECEIVE BI-WEEKLY SUPPORT FROM COMMUNITY EXTENSION WORKERS AS THEY BUILD THEIR BUSINESSES. THE MICRO FINANCE PROGRAM HELPS SUPPORT CLOSE TO 70,000 CHILDREN.


PROVIDE ACADEMIC SUPPORT AND SCHOLASTIC MATERIALS TO 2,464 GIRLS IN 17 SCHOOLS, INCREASING COMPLETION OF PRIMARY SCHOOL AND CONTINUATION TO A SECONDARY SCHOOL EDUCATION. AWR MENTORS CONDUCTED REGULAR HOME VISITS TO ALL STUDENTS. 2,600 GIRLS RECEIVED SANITARY KITS TO ENABLE THEM TO ATTEND SCHOOL DURING THEIR PERIOD AND REDUCE EARLY DROPOUTS. 11,542 CHILDREN RECEIVED SCHOLASTIC SUPPORT.
