WE BELIEVE IN THE HUMAN-ANIMAL BOND AND EXIST TO SUPPORT CENTRAL MN BY PRACTICING AND PROMOTING QUALITY ADOPTION SERVICES AND HUMANE EDUCATION PROGRAMS

SHELTER PROGRAM SERVICE ACCOMPLISHMENTS - OUR GOAL IS TO CONTINUALLY IMPROVE OPERATIONS AT THE SHELTER AND PROVIDE EFFECTIVE SERVICES TO THE PEOPLE AND ANIMALS WE SERVE. WE HAVE DONE A GREAT DEAL TO MOVE FORWARD WITH THIS. IN ADDITION TO OUR SHELTER VETERINARIANS, 7 VETERINARIANS VOLUNTEERED THEIR SERVICES, DOING SURGERIES AND CONSULTING ON QUESTIONABLE ANIMALS. SURGERY RECAP FOR 2021: 2,916 SPAY AND NEUTER SURGERIES, 27 HERNIA REPAIRS, 66 DENTALS, 13 TAIL AMPUTATIONS, 6 EYE REMOVALS 23 WOUND REPAIRS, 9 SUTURE REPAIRS, 2 ENTROPIAN EYELID REPAIRS, 1 BLADDER STONE REMOVAL. TOTAL INTAKES FOR 2021 WAS 4,713. TOTAL ADOPTIONS FOR 2021 WAS 4,499, A PLACEMENT RATE OF 95.5%. WE HAVE A GOAL OF NO EUTHANASIA OF TREATABLE REHABILITABLE ANIMALS AND CONTINUE WITH OUR EFFORT TO REDUCE OUR EUTHANASIA RATE. OUR FOSTER CARE PROGRAM IS CRITICAL TO OUR LIFE SAVING EFFORTS. FOSTER HOMES FILLED THE GAP BETWEEN THE TIME AN ANIMAL IS BROUGHT TO THE SOCIETY AND THE TIME THEY ARE ADOPTED. 1,236 ANIMALS WENT THROUGH OUR FOSTER CARE PROGRAM IN 2021.


EDUCATION - IN AN EFFORT TO INCREASE THE COMMUNITY'S AWARENESS OF ANIMALS WELFARE AND HUMANE EDUCATION TCHS HAS REACHED OUT IN A VARIETY OF WAYS: VISIT SENIOR CARE CENTER/ASSISTED LIVING FACILITIES. KEEP THE COMMUNITY UP-TO-DATE ON ANIMAL WELFARE RELATED NEWS AND LEGISLATION VIA NEWSLETTERS, FACEBOOK AND EMAILS. VISIT AREA SCHOOLS, INSTRUCTING CHILDREN HOW TO BE KIND TO ANIMALS AS WELL AS SAFE AROUND THEM. TCHS IS A RESOURCE IN OUR COMMUNITY FOR PEOPLE HAVING QUESTIONS ABOUT ANYTHING ANIMAL RELATED. WE ANSWER NUMEROUS PHONE CALLS DAILY, HELPING PEOPLE RESOLVE WHATEVER PROBLEMS THEY ARE HAVING WITH AN ANIMAL. MEMBERS OF NEWCOMERS, A WELCOME WAGON TYPE BUSINESS. THROUGH THEM WE DISTRIBUTE FLYERS TO PEOPLE MOVING IN THE AREA OR PURCHASING A NEW HOME.
