PROVIDING ORAL HEALTH EDUCATION AND IMPROVING ACCESS TO DENTAL CARE FOR THE UNINSURED, LOW-INCOME CHILDREN AND FAMILIES OF MIAMI-DADE COUNTY.

THE COMMUNITY SMILES CHARITABLE CLINIC (THE "CLINIC") PROVIDES CARE TO UNINSURED AND UNDERSERVED PATIENTS WHO HAVE NO OTHER ACCESS TO ORAL HEALTH CARE. EQUIPPED WITH SURGICAL AND IMAGING EQUIPMENT, THE 17 OPERATORY FACILITY IS ACCREDITED BY THE ACCREDITING ASSOCIATION FOR AMBULATORY HEALTH CARE (AAAHC), AND PROVIDES COMPREHENSIVE CARE TO ITS PATIENTS. THE CLINIC PROVIDES FOR OVER 16,000 ESTIMATED PATIENT VISITS ANNUALLY AND CONDUCTS OUTREACH AND EDUCATION PROGRAMS IN THE COMMUNITY, AS WELL AS IN COOPERATION WITH LOCAL PUBLIC SCHOOLS, GOVERNMENT AGENCIES AND SOCIAL SERVICES AGENCIES.


THROUGH THE ORGANIZATION'S EDUCATIONAL ARM, THE FLORIDA INSTITUTE FOR ADVANCED DENTAL EDUCATION (THE "INSTITUTE"), THE ORGANIZATION DELIVERS A ONE PLUS ONE YEAR ADVANCED EDUCATION IN GENERAL DENTISTRY (AEGD) POST- DOCTORAL RESIDENCY PROGRAM. ADVANCED INSTRUCTION IS PROVIDED IN SELECTED SPECIALTY AREAS BY A FACULTY OF MORE THAN 60 INSTRUCTORS.
