THE MISSION OF THE ROSWELL HISTORICAL SOCIETY IS TO COLLECT, PRESERVE, SHARE AND PROMOTE THE HISTORY OF THE CITY OF ROSWELL AND ENVIRONS.

EDUCATIONAL ACTIVITIESEVERY YEAR HUNDREDS OF ELEMENTARY AND JUNIOR HIGH STUDENTS TAKE WALKING TOURS OF ROSWELL'S HISTORIC DISTRICT WITH OUR TRAINED VOLUNTEER GUIDES WHO INTERPRET THE HISTORY OF ROSWELL AND THE HISTORIC BUILDINGS ALONG THE ROUTE. WE ALSO PROVIDE SPEAKERS FOR OTHER ORGANIZATIONS AND MOUNT PERIODIC EXHIBITS WITH HISTORIC THEMES, AND WE PUBLISH ON HISTORICAL TOPICS. THE SOCIETY ALSO MAINTAINS A RESEARCH LIBRARY AND ARCHIVES AS A REPOSITORY FOR RESEARCH MATERIAL AND HISTORICAL COLLECTIONS
HISTORICAL MARKERS AND HISTORIC CEMETERY RECORDING AND CARE.CURRENTLY THE SOCIETY HAS PLACED 43 MARKERS AROUND ROSWELL TO DESIGNATE PROPERTIES DEEMED OF HISTORIC SIGNIFICANCE. ADDITIONALLY, MEMBERS HAVE WORKED SINCE 2007 TO RECORD GRAVES IN OUR HISTORIC CEMETERIES. THE SOCIETY ENTERS THIS INFORMATION INTO A SEARCHABLE DATABASE THAT IS AVAILABLE ONLINE OR AT OUR RESEARCH LIBRARY AND ARCHIVES. ADDITIONALLY RHS HAS RESTORED OVER 212 MONUMENTS IN OLD ROSWELL CEMETERY.
