THE MISSION OF CSAM IS TO ADVANCE THE ETHICAL AND COMPASSIONATE TREATMENT OFADDICTION THROUGH PHYSICIAN-LED EDUCATION OF HEALTH PROFESSIONALS, PATIENTS, AND THEPUBLIC, CSAM PROMOTES PRACTICE, RESEARCH, PREVENTION, AND IMPLEMENTATION OFEVIDENCE-BASED TREATMENT AND SOUND DRUG POLICY.

CSAM SPONSORS AN ANNUAL CONFERENCE THAT IS TYPICALLY HELD IN AUGUST OR SEPTEMBER. INALTERNATING YEARS, CSAM SPONSORS EITHER THE ADDICTION MEDICINE REVIEW COURSE OR THESTATE OF THE ART CONFERENCE, CSAM ALSO PROVIDES WEBINARS, ONLINE EDUCATION CONTENT,AND OTHER EDUCATIONAL RESOURCES IN THE FIELD OF ADDICTION MEDICINE.CSAM IS AN ACCREDITED PROVIDER OF CONTINUING MEDICAL EDUCATION(CME) CREDIT.CSAM HOLDS A BIENNIAL LEADERSHIP DEVELOPMENT RETREAT FOR THE PURPOSE OF DEVELOPINGFUTURE LEADERS BY PROVIDING NETWORKING, SKILLS-BASED TRAINING, AND PROFESSIONAL ANDPERSONAL DEVELOPMENT OPPORTUNITIES, CSAM PUBLISHES GUIDELINES, STANDARDS, WHITEPAPERS AND POSITION STATEMENTS ON A VARIETY OF TOPICS PERTINENT TO THE SPECIALTY OFADDICTION MEDICINE.CSAM HAS LONG MAINTAINED A FOCUS ON THE TOPIC OF PHYSICIAN WELL-BEING AND HAS BEEN AVOCAL ADVOCATE TO PROVIDE EARLY INTERVENTION AND REFERRAL TO TREATMENT FOR PHYSICIANSSUFFERING FROM THE DISEASE OF ADDICTION OR OTHER MEDICAL CONDITIONS.CSAM IS ENGAGED IN VARIOUS EFFORTS THAT INCLUDE OUTREACH TO PHYSICIANS WORKING INPRIMARY CARE AND OTHER SYSTEMS OF CARE TO IMPROVE SCREENING AND TREATMENT OF ADDICTION ACROSS THE STATE.CSAM MAINTAINS A WEBSITE:WWW.CSAM-ASAM.ORG AND PRODUCES A PRINT NEWSLETTER AND ISSUESE-ALERTS ON TOPICS OF INTEREST TO MEMBERS.
