THE GENESEE VALLEY COUNCIL ON THE ARTS HAS BEEN LIVINGSTON COUNTYS OFFICIAL ARTS COUNCIL FOR 50 YEARS. THE MISSION OF THE ARTS COUNCIL IS TO ENRICH THE QUALITY OF LIFE IN THE LIVINGSTON COUNTY AREA BY ENCOURAGING AND PROMOTING THE ARTS AND CULTURAL ACTIVITIES THROUGH SUPPORT OF ARTISTS, SCHOOLS, AND COMMUNITY GROUPS.

LIVINGSTON ARTS CENTER IS A COMMUNITY BASED ORGANIZATION DEDICATED TO PROMOTING THE ARTS, SUPPORTING ARTISTS AND EDUCATING THE PUBLIC. THE ARTS CENTER IS HOME TO THE NEW DEAL GALLERY, DISPLAYING THE COLLECTION OF 1930S WORKS PROGRESS ADMINISTRATION PAINTINGS, THE APARTMENT ONE GALLERY WHICH GIVES OPPORTUNITIES TO LOCAL ESTABLISHED ARTISTS TO EXHIBIT THEIR WORK AND THE EXPERIMENTAL ART GALLERY WHICH PROVIDES PROFESSIONAL GALLERY SPACE TO EMERGING ARTISTS AND ESTABLISHED ARTISTS EXPERIMENTING IN A NEW MEDIUM. THE ARTS CENTER ALSO OFFERS OPEN STUDIO SPACE, CLASSES AND WORKSHOPS AS WELL AS GIFT SHOP TO SELL AND PROMOTE LOCAL ARTISTS' CREATIONS. LIVINGSTON ARTS CENTER IS ALSO THE HOME TO THE GENESEE VALLEY ARTS GRANT PROGRAM, PROVIDING FUNDING TO NONPROFIT ORGANIZATIONS AND ARTISTS IN LIVINGSTON COUNTY.
