TO SUPPORT, PROMOTE, AND ADVOCATE FOR THE PIKES PEAK LIBRARY DISTRICT'S DYNAMIC AND EVOLVING ROLE.

CASH GRANTS AND ASSISTANCE TO THE PIKES PEAK LIBRARY DISTRICT AND VARIOUS BRANCHES. THIS IS THE PRIMARY PURPOSE OF THE FRIENDS. GIVEN OUR SOLID PAST FINANCIAL MANAGEMENT PRACTICES, WE WERE ABLE TO CONTRIBUTE TO PPLD PROGRAMS IN 2021. $42,928 WAS CONTRIBUTED FOR PROGRAM AND STAFF SUPPORT AND RECOGNITION.


PERSONNEL, SUPPLIES AND OTHER COSTS RELATED TO THE OPERATIONS OF THE FRIENDS BOOKSTORES AND SALES. -THE FRIENDS HAS 936 MEMBERS. -BOOKSTORES AT EAST, 21C AND PENROSE REOPENED IN JANUARY. MOST OF THE BRANCHES WERE REOPENED BY APRIL. WE CONTINUED TO SELL BOOKS ONLINE VIA EBAY, AMAZON, FACEBOOK LIVE AND OUR ONLINE STOREFRONT.


PROGRAMS: -THE ANNUAL MEETING WAS HELD VIA ZOOM ON JANUARY 27, 2021. -LITERARY AWARDS WAS HELD ON AUGUST 8, 2021. AUTHOR, PAM HOUSTON, WAS THE KEYNOTE SPEAKER AND RECIPIENT OF THE FRANK WATERS AWARDS. DON KALLUS OWNER OF RHYOLITE PRESS AND ANGEL CREST, AUTHOR AND PHOTOGRAPHER WERE THE GOLDEN QUILL AWARD WINNERS FOR THEIR BOOK COLORADO SPRINGS: A CHANGING LANDSCAPE. -LATINA VOICES WAS HELD ON SEPTEMBER 25, 2021. THIS WAS THE 10TH ANNIVERSARY OF THIS EVENT. -SUMMER BOOKSALE AT 21C WAS HELD ON JULY 16-17, 2021. -BIG BOOK SALE TOOK PLACE AT EAST ON OCT. 1 3, 2021.
