AS THE LARGEST SERVING HUNGER-RELIEF ORGANIZATION IN THE PHILADELPHIA REGION, SHARE'S MISSION IS REDUCING REGIONAL FOOD INSECURITY BY PROVIDING NOURISHING FOOD TO A NETWORK OF COMMUNITY-BASED PARTNERS AND DIRECTLY TO INDIVIDUALS IN NEED. OVER THE COURSE OF THE 2020-21 FISCAL YEAR, SHARE SERVED MORE THAN 1,000,000 UNIQUE INDIVIDUALS IN PHILADELPHIA, BUCKS, CHESTER, DELAWARE, AND MONTGOMERY COUNTIES.

EMERGENCY FOOD RELIEF - SHARE FOOD PROGRAM IS THE LEADING HUNGER RELIEF ORGANIZATION IN THE GREATER PHILADELPHIA REGION, AND ONE OF THE LARGEST INDEPENDENT FOOD BANKS IN THE NATION. FOOD INSECURITY HAS RISEN SHARPLY SINCE THE ONSET OF THE COVID-19 PANDEMIC, AND SHARE HAS CONTINUED TO EXPAND ITS EFFORTS AND RESPOND AGGRESSIVELY, COMPASSIONATELY, AND EFFICIENTLY TO MEET THE INCREASED NEED FOR FOOD AMID SUPPLY CHAIN ISSUES, INFLATION, AND EXPIRING RELIEF BENEFITS AND SOCIAL SAFETY NETS. SHARE FOOD PROGRAM LED THE LARGEST EMERGENCY FOOD RESPONSE IN THE REGION OVER THE COURSE OF THE PANDEMIC, ENSURING THAT VULNERABLE HOUSEHOLDS IN PHILADELPHIA AND THE SURROUNDING SUBURBS HAD ACCESS TO FRESH, NUTRITIOUS FOOD. EACH MONTH, SHARE FOOD PROGRAM SERVE HUNDREDS OF THOUSANDS OF CHILDREN, SENIORS, AND FAMILIES IN NEED THROUGH ITS VAST NETWORK OF FOOD PANTRIES, THE NATIONAL SCHOOL LUNCH PROGRAM, HOME DELIVERY, URBAN AGRICULTURE, AND FOOD RESCUE AND REDISTRIBUTION PROGRAMMING.


COMMUNITY FOOD PROGRAMS - IN ADDITION TO OUR EMERGENCY RESPONSE DURING COVID-19, SHARE FOOD PROGRAM HAS SIGNIFICANTLY GROWN THE FOLLOWING CORE PROGRAMS FOR HUNGER RELIEF, EDUCATION, AND FOOD JUSTICE ADVOCACY: "PROVIDING NUTRITIOUS FOOD FOR 305,000 CHILDREN IN NEARLY 70 SCHOOL DISTRICTS AS THE LOGISTICS ADMINISTRATOR FOR THE NATIONAL SCHOOL LUNCH PROGRAM IN THE GREATER PHILADELPHIA REGION. "DELIVERING MORE THAN 3,000 BOXES OF FOOD PER MONTH TO THE DOORS OF SENIORS, PEOPLE WITH DISABILITIES, AND NEWLY-SETTLED REFUGEES WHO ARE VULNERABLE TO COVID-19. "PROVIDING FOOD TO MORE THAN 7,000 SENIORS PER MONTH THROUGH THE SENIOR FOOD BOX PROGRAM. "WORKING WITH MORE THAN 7,000 VOLUNTEERS ANNUALLY, WHO SUPPORT FOOD PACKING, CALLING, AND HOME DELIVERY. SHARE FOOD PROGRAM'S PHILLY FOOD RESCUE PROGRAM HAS ALSO RESCUED AND REDISTRIBUTED 8.6 MILLION POUNDS OF FOOD IN 2022. THROUGH SNAP-ED PROGRAMMING AND PRODUCE STANDS, SHARE SUPPLIES FRESH PRODUCE AND NUTRITIONAL EDUCATION TO MORE THAN 800 FAMILIES WITHIN THE SCHOOL DISTRICT OF PHILADELPHIA. GROWING FRESH PRODUCE AT OUR ONSITE NICE ROOTS FARM, AND OFFERING THIS FOOD AT NO COST TO THE COMMUNITY. IN ADDITION, WE HAVE ALSO INCREASED EDUCATIONAL OPPORTUNITIES FOR LOCAL STUDENTS TO LEARN ABOUT URBAN AGRICULTURE.
