ROYER-GREAVES SCHOOL FOR BLIND IS DEDICATED TO EDUCATING AND ENHANCING THE LIVES OF CHILDREN AND ADULTS WHO ARE VISUALLY IMPAIRED AND/OR BLIND AND ARE DIAGNOSED WITH INTELLECTUAL OR DEVELOPMENTAL DISABILITIES.

COMMUNITY LIVING ARRANGEMENT: THE CONTINUOUS 24-HOUR RESIDENTIAL PROGRAM SERVES ADULTS AGE 21 THROUGH THE LIFE SPAN WHO HAVE DEVELOPMENTAL AND/OR INTELLECTUAL DISABILITIES. THE OFFICE OF DEVELOPMENTAL PROGRAMS, UNDER THE 6400 REGULATIONS, LICENSES THE RESIDENTIAL PROGRAM. ROYER-GREAVES OPERATES FOUR COMMUNITY LIVING ARRANGEMENTS (HOMES) IN LOCATIONS THAT INCLUDE KING OF PRUSSIA, DREXEL HILL, SPRINGFIELD AND ASTON. THE PROGRAM SERVES 13 INDIVIDUALS BY PROVIDING THEM VALUABLE AND DESIRED ENGAGEMENT IN THEIR COMMUNITY AND PERSONAL DAILY LIFE SO THAT THEY MAY EXPERIENCE BEING PARTICIPATORY AND CONTRIBUTING CITIZENS.


EDUCATION: ROYER-GREAVES SCHOOL FOR BLIND IS LICENSED AS AN APPROVED PRIVATE SCHOOL FOR SPECIAL EDUCATION AND IS A PRIVATE ACADEMIC SCHOOL BY THE PENNSYLVANIA DEPARTMENT OF EDUCATION. OUR EDUCATION PROGRAM, WHICH SERVES 18 CLIENTS IS A DAY PROGRAM THAT SERVES CHILDREN AGES 4.5 THROUGH 21 WHO ARE VISUALLY IMPAIRED OR BLIND AND HAVE AN ADDITIONAL DIAGNOSIS. THE EDUCATION PROGRAM PROVIDES STUDENTS WITH INDIVIDUALIZED AND SPECIALIZED INSTRUCTION AND TRAINING TO ENHANCE THEIR LIFE AND BUILD ON SKILLS THAT WILL AFFORD THEM THE OPPORTUNITY TO BECOME FUNCTIONING AND PARTICIPATORY CITIZENS IN THEIR HOME AND COMMUNITY. THE FOCUS OF OUR PROGRAM FOR CHILDREN IS TO EXPAND PERSONAL GROWTH THROUGH SOCIAL, RECREATIONAL AND VOCATIONAL DEVELOPMENT.


ADULT DAY PROGRAM: THE ATF PROGRAM IS FOR ADULTS AGES 21 THROUGH THE LIFE SPAN WHO HAVE DEVELOPMENTAL AND/OR INTELLECTUAL DISABILITIES AND MAY BE VISUALLY IMPAIRED OR BLIND. THE OFFICE OF DEVELOPMENTAL PROGRAMS, UNDER THE 2380 REGULATIONS, LICENSES THE ATF PROGRAM. THE ATF PROGRAM PROVIDES DAY SERVICES, MONDAY THRU FRIDAY FROM 8:30 AM TO 3:30 PM, TO 23 INDIVIDUALS BY AFFORDING THEM VALUABLE AND DESIRED ENGAGEMENT IN THEIR COMMUNITY AND PERSONAL DAILY LIFE SO THAT THEY MAY EXPERIENCE BEING PARTICIPATORY AND CONTRIBUTING CITIZENS. IN THE DAY PROGRAM INDIVIDUALS HAVE OPPORTUNITIES TO PARTICIPATE IN MUSIC THERAPY SESSIONS, ENJOY RECREATIONAL AND LEISURE PURSUITS, RELAX THROUGH SENSORY STIMULI, SWIM, DO ARTS AND CRAFT ACTIVITIES, EXPERIENCE HORTICULTURAL ACTIVITIES, ATTEND MONTHLY PET PLAY DAY SESSIONS WITH A LOCAL PET SHELTER AND GO ON A WIDE VARIETY OF COMMUNITY OUTINGS.


LIFESHARING AND RESPITE: LIFESHARING IS A RESIDENTIAL OPTION MATCHING ADULTS WHO CANNOT LIVE INDEPENDENTLY WITH PEOPLE WHO OPEN THEIR HOMES TO PROVIDE SUPPORT AND SHARE THEIR LIVES. THE OFFICE OF DEVELOPMENTAL PROGRAMS, UNDER THE 6500 REGULATIONS, LICENSES THIS PROGRAM. RESPITE IS A SERVICE PROVIDED ON A SHORT-TERM BASIS TO RELIEVE THOSE PERSONS NORMALLY PROVIDING CARE. THIS SERVICE IS PROVIDED IN LICENSED 6400 HOMES.
