THE COMMISSION STRIVES TO DEVELOP AND PROMOTE SPORTING EVENTS IN THE ADIRONDACK MOUNTAIN AND 1000 ISLANDS REGION OF NEW YORK STATE FOR THE PURPOSE OF EXPANDING THE YEAR ROUND ECONOMIC OPPORTUNITIES OF THE AREA AND TO INCREASE PUBLIC INTEREST IN SPORTING EVENTS. THE COMMISSION'S CURRENT EFFORTS ARE TO DEVELOP AND PROMOTE REGIONAL AND INTERNATIONAL SPORTS ACTIVITIES AND EVENTS AND SPUR UPGRADES OF THE REGIONAL INFRASTRUCTURE INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO CONDUCTING THE 2023 WORLD UNIVERSITY WINTER GAMES.
