HUMANE SOCIETY VETERINARY MEDICAL ASSOCIATION INC. (HSVMA) IS COMMITTED TO PROMOTING VETERINARY LEADERSHIP IN ANIMAL ADVOCACY AND PUBLIC EDUCATION TO AID ANIMALS IN NEED.

EDUCATION AND STUDENT OUTREACH HSVMA FOCUSES ON PROVIDING EDUCATION FOR VETERINARY PROFESSIONALS RELATED TO ANIMAL WELFARE ISSUES. HSVMA'S CONTINUING EDUCATION PROGRAM INCLUDES A WEBINAR SERIES FOR VETERINARY PROFESSIONALS THAT FOCUSES ON ANIMAL WELFARE TOPICS. DURING 2021, HSVMA HOSTED SIX LIVE WEBINARS ON TOPICS INCLUDING REHABILITATING RESCUE HORSES, ADDRESSING PAIN AND SUFFERING IN THE VETERINARY ER, COPING WITH EUTHANASIA AND OTHER VETERINARY RELATED LOSSES, WILDLIFE FERTILITY CONTROL, BEHAVIOR CASES AND VETERINARY STUDENT DEBT MANAGEMENT. ADVOCACY DURING 2021, HSVMA MOBILIZED MORE THAN 1,200 VETERINARY PROFESSIONALS (VETERINARIANS, VETERINARY TECHNICIANS, VETERINARY STUDENTS AND VETERINARY TECHNICIAN STUDENTS) TO ACTIVELY PARTICIPATE IN ADVOCACY EFFORTS IN THE ANIMAL WELFARE ARENA. HSVMA ADVOCACY EFFORTS ARE AIDED BY THE HSVMA BOARD OF DIRECTORS, THE HSVMA LEADERSHIP COUNCIL, AND THE HSVMA STATE REPRESENTATIVE PROGRAM WHICH HAS VOLUNTEER VETERINARY MEMBERS REPRESENTING THE ORGANIZATION IN 33 STATES AND THE DISTRICT OF COLUMBIA.
