TO PROVIDE SPECIALIZED RESPONSE TO SEARCH AND RESCUE EMERGENCIES OCCURING WITHIN THE SOUTHWEST FLORIDA REGION AND THROUGHOUT THE STATE OF FLORIDA.

Part 3 - Line 4a

SOUTHWEST FLORIDA URBAN SEARCH AND RESCUE PROVIDES SPECIALIZED RESCUE RESPONSE TO INCIDENTS THAT INVOLVE CONFINED SPACE, TRENCH, LOW/HIGH ANGLE ROPE, SWIFT WATER, AND STRUCTURAL COLLAPSE SITUATIONS. DESIGNATED BY THE STATE OF FLORIDA AS FLORIDA TASK FORCE 6, SWF USAR IS AVAILABLE TO RESPOND TO SEARCH AND RESCUE EMERGENCIES REGIONALLY AND THROUGHOUT THE STATE. THE 85-MEMBER TASK FORCE IS COMPOSED OF FIREFIGHTERS, PARAMEDICS, AND SPECIALISTS FROM THE BONITA SPRINGS, ESTERO, SAN CARLOS PARK, SOUTH TRAIL, IONA MCGREGOR, NORTH COLLIER, CAPE CORAL AND THE FORT MYERS BEACH FIRE DISTRICTS, AND THE LEE COUNTY DIVISION OF PUBLIC SAFETY. TASK FORCE MEMBERS ALSO INCLUDE VOLUNTEER SPECIALISTS IN STRUCTURAL ENGINEERING, EMERGENCY MEDICINE, AND CANINE SEARCH.
