THE SEAFOOD PRODUCTS ASSOCIATION (SPA) IS LOCATED IN SEATTLE, WA. SPA STAFF PROVIDE SEAFOOD PROCESSORS WITH TECHNICAL AND REGULATORY CONSULTATION AND ANALYTICAL TESTING SERVICES THAT PROVIDE MEMBERS WITH FOOD SAFETY, REGULATORY COMPLIANCE, AND QUALITY PROGRAMS THAT MEET OR EXCEED CUSTOMER REQUIREMENTS AND EXPECTATIONS IN BOTH DOMESTIC AND GLOBAL MARKETS. AS FOOD SAFETY AUTHORITIES, SPA PROVIDES TRAINING AND OTHER CONSULTATION FOR FOOD PROCESSORS TO ASSIST IN THE DEVELOPMENT, REVIEW, AND IMPLEMENTATION OF HAZARD ANALYSIS CRITICAL CONTROL POINTS (HACCP) AND OTHER PREVENTATIVE PROGRAMS TO ENSURE THE SAFETY AND COMPLIANCE OF MEMBER PRODUCTS. RECOGNIZED AS A PROCESS AUTHORITY BY STATE, FEDERAL AND INTERNATIONAL REGULATORS AND FOOD SAFETY AUTHORITIES, THE SPA PROVIDES TECHNICAL AND SCIENTIFIC ASSISTANCE TO OUR MEMBER PROCESSORS IN THE AREAS OF THERMAL PROCESSING AND COMPLIANCE WITH LOW-ACID CANNED FOOD AND OTHER PROCESSED FOOD REGULATIONS.THE SPA ALSO ADMINISTERS THE UNIQUE COOPERATIVE EFFORT BETWEEN FDA AND SALMON PROCESSORS WHO ARE COMMITTED TO MAINTAINING SAFETY AND WHOLESOMENESS OF CANNED SALMON: THE SALMON CONTROL PLAN. UNDER THE SALMON CONTROL PLAN, THE SPA PROVIDES ORGANOLEPTIC EXAMINATION OF SEAFOOD PRODUCTS AND ITS STAFF IS RECOGNIZED AROUND THE WORLD IN DETERMINING THE WHOLESOMENESS AND SAFETY OF SEAFOOD.OUR STAFF ALSO PROVIDES TRAINING TO INDIVIDUALS IN SEAFOOD PROCESSING COMPANIES WHO HANDLE THE SAMPLES USED FOR TESTING AS WELL AS PROVIDING SEAFOOD EXAMINATION SERVICES FOR BOTH REGULATORY COMPLIANCE AND DOMESTIC AND FOREIGN MARKETING PURPOSES.SPA ADDRESSES TRAINING NEEDS OF OUR MEMBERS BY UTILIZING STAFF AND OUTSIDE EXPERTS TO PROVIDE THE EDUCATIONAL OPPORTUNITIES NECESSARY FOR IMPROVING WORKFORCE KNOWLEDGE AND EFFECTIVENESS. WE BELIEVE WELL-TARGETED AND APPLICABLE TRAINING BENEFITS MEMBER COMPANIES, THEIR EMPLOYEES, AND MOST OF ALL, CUSTOMERS AND CONSUMERS OF MEMBER FOOD PRODUCTS.
