PROGRAM:LOW-COST MEDICAL SERVICES WHERE PROVIDED 4-5 DAYS/WEEK TO OVER 800 UNINSURED, UNDER-INSURED OR PUBLICLY INSURED INDIVIDUALS WHO ARE LOW-INCOME. SERVICES WERE PROVIDED BY 11 VOLUNTEER HEALTH PROFESSIONALS, TO INCLUDE 5 LICENSED PROVIDERS. OVER 175 MENTAL HEALTH VISITS WERE PROVIDED. MEDICAL SERVICES INCLUDED PRIMARY CARE MEDICINE, IMMUNIZATIONS,LABS, FOOT CARE, PRESCRIPTION ASSISTANCE, AND REFERRALS TO SPECIALIST AND COMMUNITY BASED SERVICES. TRAINING WAS EXTENDED TO MEDICAL STUDENTS FROM BOTH IN-STATE AND OUT-OF-STATE PROGRAMS, AS WELL AS LOCAL NURSING STUDENTS, MEDICAL AND OFFICE ASSISTANTS, AND FOR BROADENING EXPERIENCES FOR UNDERGRADUATE STUDENTS. SERVICES WERE SUSTAINED THROUGH GENEROUS DONATIONS, A NOMINAL SLIDING SCALE SERVICE FEE (HOMELESS CLINICS EXCEPTED), AND PUBLIC INSURANCE REIMBURSEMENTS. PATIENTS WHO WERE UNABLE TO PAY WERE OFFERED OPPORTUNITIES TO SERVE WITHIN THE COMMUNITY AT OTHER NON-PROFIT ORGANIZATIONS IN LIEU OF PAYMENTS.
