TO ENCOURAGE AND INSPIRE RESEARCH AND DIALOGUE ON THE RESPONSIBLE USE OF ADVANCES IN BRAIN SCIENCE. TO ACCOMPLISH OUR MISSION, WE EXCHANGE KNOWLEDGE AMONG SCIENTISTS, ETHICISTS, MEDICAL PROFESSIONALS, LAWYERS, EDUCATORS, POLICY MAKERS AND OTHER STAKEHOLDERS; FORGE CONNECTIONS AND COLLABORATIONS ACROSS SCIENTIFIC DISCIPLINES, BUSINESS SECTORS, GOVERMENT AGENCIES AND INSTITUTIONS; ENABLE EDUCATIONAL, TRAINING AND MENTORING OPPORTUNITIES TO STRENGHTEN NEUROETHICS; ENGAGE IN PUBLIC FORUMS AND DISCUSSIONS WITH CITIZENS, JOURNALISTS, EXPERTS AND LEADERS.

IN 2021, THE INTERNATIONAL NEUROETHICS SOCIETY AGAIN HELD A VIRTUAL ANNUAL MEETING. THE THEME WAS 'SOCIAL JUSTICE AT THE CENTER: SHAPING THE FUTURE OF NEUROETHICS.' SESSIONS ENGAGED THE DIFFERENT COMMUNITIES AND DISCIPLINES THAT MAKE UP THE FIELD OF NEUROETHICS TO LEARN FROM ONE ANOTHER AND TO WORK TOGETHER TO FOSTER JUSTICE AND EQUITY IN THE BRAIN SCIENCES. ABOUT 250 SCHOLARS, SCIENTISTS, CLINICIANS, AND OTHER PROFESSIONAL FROM 40 COUNTRIES WHO SHARE AN INTEREST IN THE SOCIAL, LEGAL, ETHICAL, AND POLICY IMPLICATIONS OF ADVANCES IN NEUROSCIENCE MET VIRTUALLY ON NOVEMBER 4-5. EVEN THOUGH THE ANNUAL MEETING WAS VIRTUAL, THE CALL FOR ABSTRACTS AND THE CALL FOR ESSAYS WENT OUT IN MARCH AND INVESTIGATORS FROM A WIDE RANGE OF DISCIPLINES AND REGIONS AROUND THE WORLD SUBMITTED THEIR WORK TO BE SHARED. THEY PARTICIPATED WITH POSTERS OR RECORDED ORAL PRESENTATIONS DURING THE ANNUAL MEETING. ABSTRACT ENTRIES WERE REVIEWED BY THE INS PROGRAM COMMITTEE AND ESSAY ENTRIES WERE REVIEWED BY THE INS STUDENT POSTDOC COMMITTEE.A SERIES OF SIX WEBINARS WERE HELD FROM JANUARY THROUGH JUNE ON TOPICS, INCLUDING BRAIN DATA GOVERNANCE AND NEURO-RIGHTS; CULTURALLY AWARE GLOBAL NEUROETHICS; ETHICAL AND SOCIETAL IMPLICATIONS OF TELEPSYCHIATRY, ENVIRONMENTAL NEUROETHICS. INDIVIDUALS REGISTERED FOR THE EVENT AND Q&A SESSIONS FOLLOWED EACH SESSION. ALL DISCUSSIONS WERE RECORDED AND ARE AVAILABLE ON THE INS WEBSITE.
