ELEMENTARY & SECONDARY SCHOOL EDUCATION: WE HAVE ONE FORMAL PRIMARY SCHOOL FACILITY THAT CONTINUES TO SERVE THE EDUCATION NEEDS OF ABOUT 100 CHILDREN. THE SCHOOL IS LOCATED IN AN INNER CITY AREA OF KOLKATA AND INVOLVES CHILDREN AGE PRESCHOOL TO 5TH GRADE. 20 OTHER CHILDREN ARE TUTORED IN SMALL GROUPS AGE 12 TO 18. CHILDREN WHO ONCE WERE NOT GOING TO SCHOOL STARTING TO WORK AT THE AGE OF 6 ARE NOW LEARNING TO READ WRITE AND LEARN MATH AND SCIENCE IN THE PROCESS GAINING CRUCIAL SELF-ESTEEM AND GIVING THEM AN OPPORTUNITY IN LIFE THAT THEY OTHERWISE WOULD NOT RECEIVE. VOCATION EDUCATION: WE HAVE A VOCATIONAL TRAINING PROGRAM WHERE THE OLDER TEENAGERS AND YOUNG ADULT WOMEN LEARN TO CREATE VARIOUS HANDICRAFT SUCH AS GREETING CARDS CANDLE EMBROIDERED CLOTHES. WE ARE CURRENTLY TRAINING 8 SUCH WOMEN WHO PREVIOUSLY WERE IN HOPELESSLY DESPERATE SITUATION. THESE WOMEN LIVED IN ECONOMICALLY AND SOCIALLY REPRESSIVE SITUATIONS AND HAD NO MEANS TO RECEIVE FORMAL EDUCATION OR LIVELIHOOD. OVER THE YEARS WE HAVE HAD ABOUT 225 WOMEN GRADUATE FROM OUR PROGRAMS AND OBTAIN CAREERS AND JOBS ON THEIR OWN MERIT. GRANTS AND ALLOCATIONS: $0
