ALL HANDS AND HEARTS SMART RESPONSE, INC. EFFICIENTLY AND EFFECTIVELY ADDRESSES THE IMMEDIATE AND LONG-TERM NEEDS OF COMMUNITIES IMPACTED BY NATURAL DISASTERS. BY LISTENING TO LOCAL PEOPLE, AND DEPLOYING OUR UNIQUE MODEL OF ENGAGING VOLUNTEERS TO ENABLE DIRECT IMPACT, WE REBUILD SAFE, RESILIENT SCHOOLS, HOMES AND OTHER COMMUNITY INFRASTRUCTURE.THROUGH VOLUNTEER AND COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT, WE AIM TO HELP FAMILIES RECOVER FASTER AFTER NATURAL DISASTERS USING OUR "SMART RESPONSE" STRATEGY. BY REBUILDING IN A DISASTER RESILIENT WAY, WE PREPARE THEM FOR FUTURE EVENTS AND, THROUGH THE PROCESS, STRENGTHEN BOTH VOLUNTEERS AND COMMUNITIES.

BAHAMAS HURRICANE RELIEF- ON 1 SEPTEMBER, DORIAN MADE LANDFALL AS A CATEGORY 5 HURRICANE IN THE BAHAMAS WITH WIND SPEEDS IN EXCESS OF 185MPH, LASHING THE BAHAMIAN ISLANDS OF GREAT ABACO (POPULATION APPROX. 17,200) AND GRAND BAHAMA (POP. APPROX 51,000). DORIAN IS THE STRONGEST HURRICANE ON RECORD FOR THE BAHAMAS AND HAS TIED A RECORD FOR THE STRONGEST ATLANTIC HURRICANE TO MAKE LANDFALL. OVER 76,000 PEOPLE WERE AFFECTED BY HURRICANE DORIAN AND AT LEAST 13,000 HOMES WERE DAMAGED OR DESTROYED.
LOUISIANA HURRICANES 2020 RELIEF - "ON AUGUST 27, 2020, HURRICANE LAURA POUNDED THE LOUISIANA AND TEXAS COASTS, MAKING LANDFALL NEAR CAMERON, LOUISIANA AS A CATEGORY 4 STORM WITH 150 M.P.H. WINDS. OVER 90% OF RESIDENTIAL HOMES HAD BEEN DAMAGED IN SOME WAY BY THE HURRICANE. HURRICANE LAURA TIED THE LAST ISLAND HURRICANE (1856) FOR THE STRONGEST LANDFALLING HURRICANE IN LOUISIANA ON RECORD. JUST SIX WEEKS LATER, ON OCTOBER 9, 2020, HURRICANE DELTA MADE LANDFALL AS A CATEGORY 2 HURRICANE IN CREOLE, LOUISIANA. IT FOLLOWED A SIMILAR PATH TO HURRICANE LAURA AND COMPOUNDED THE DAMAGES ALREADY LEFT BY PREVIOUS STORMS. DELTA ALSO CAUSED A LOT MORE RAINFALL ACCUMULATION, WITH SEVERAL PLACES REPORTING UP TO 18" WITHIN A FEW HOURS. FLOOD EMERGENCIES AND WIND DAMAGE WERE REPORTED ACROSS LARGE AREAS, AND MANY COMMUNITIES HAVE SIGNIFICANT DAMAGE TO THEIR PROPERTIES."
TONAMECA EARTHQUAKE RELIEF - AN EARTHQUAKE STRUCK THE SOUTH OF MEXICO ON THE 7TH SEPTEMBER WITH A MW 8.2V. A SECOND EARTHQUAKE IN CENTRAL MEXICO STRUCK ON 19 SEPTEMBER 2017 WITH AN ESTIMATED MAGNITUDE OF MW 7.1.V. 370 PEOPLE WERE KILLED BY THE EARTHQUAKES AND RELATED BUILDING COLLAPSES, INCLUDING 228 IN MEXICO CITY, AND MORE THAN 6,000 PEOPLE WERE INJURED. ABOUT 212 SCHOOLS WERE CLASSIFIED WITH SERIOUS DAMAGE IN THE WHOLE COUNTRY. IN OAXACA, APPROXIMATELY 28 SCHOOLS WERE EFFECTED.
