INITIATED BY THE GEM FOUNDATION, IN COLLABORATION WITH YOUNG CIVIC LEADERS, HUMANKIND IS A CONTINUING EXPLORATION OF WAYS TO SPARK AND CULTIVATE DEEPER CONNECTIONS THAT MOVE BEYOND BOUNDARIES, OPEN UP POSSIBILITIES AND REINFORCE OUR HUMANITY. IT AIMS TO CREATE A NETWORK OF SELF-SUSTAINING, SELF-ORGANIZING TEAMS THAT WILL FOSTER MEANINGFUL, IF DIFFICULT CONVERSATIONS THAT CAN MORE EFFECTIVELY MEET INDIVIDUAL, FAMILY, COMMUNITY AND SYSTEMIC CHALLENGES.


HUMANKIND SAN DIEGO IS A SERIES OF CONVENINGS ACROSS THE REGION TO CONNECT PEOPLE FROM DIVERSE NEIGHBORHOODS AND EXPLORE THE CONDITIONS THAT MAKE MEANINGFUL CONNECTIONS ACROSS BOUNDARIES POSSIBLE. STORIES OF PERSONAL EXPERIENCE ARE SHARED, IN CONVERSATIONS AND ON VIDEO, AND ANALYZED FOR COMMON THEMES. PARTICIPANTS RECONVENE TO CONSIDER THE RESULTS OF THE ANALYSIS, REFLECT ON WHAT WE'RE LEARNING AND IDENTIFY OPPORTUNITIES TO EXPAND THE SYSTEM.
