FAITH IN ACTION ALABAMA'S MISSION IS TO HONOR GOD BY ACHIEVING SYSTEMIC CHANGE THROUGH FAITH-BASED COMMUNITY ORGANIZING TO CREATE PATHWAYS OF OPPORTUNITY FOR ALL ALABAMIANS

BIRMINGHAM'S PEACEMAKER CAMPAIGN CONDUCTS WEEKLY NIGHT WALKS IN NORTH BIRMINGHAM AND IN WEST END. THESE NEIGHBORHOODS ARE IMPACTED BY GUN VIOLENCE. PARTICIPANTS FROM SEVEN CHURCH CONGREGATIONS REGULARLY PARTICIPATE IN THE WALKS WITH THE MISSION OF LISTEN, LEARN AND LOVE. AS PART OF THE PEACEMAKER CAMPAIGN, FAITH IN ACTION HAS ALSO IMPLEMENTED A RAPID RESPONSE VICTIMS TEAM FOCUSED ON PROVIDING FAMILIES, DIRECTLY IMPACTED BY GUN VIOLENCE, EMOTIONAL SUPPORT AND SOCIAL SERVICES NEEDS.


FAITH IN ACTION ALABAMA IS ORGANIZING TO EXPAND ACCESS TO THE BALLOT BOX FOR PEOPLE OF COLOR, PERSONS WHO LIVE IN POVERTY AND PERSONS WITH DISABILITIES. FAITH IN ACTION WAS INSTUMENTAL IN LEADING A VOTER ENGAGEMENT PROJECT DURING THE 2021 MAYORAL AND CITY COUNCIL ELECTIONS. AS PART OF THIS PROGRAM, FAITH IN ACTION ALABAMA IS DIRECTING A MULTI-YEAR CAMPAIGN TO WIN BACK THE VOTING RIGHTS OF FORMALLY INCARCERATED INDIVIDUALS WHO HAVE BEEN STRIPPED OF THE RIGHT TO VOTE BECAUSE OF FELONY CONVICTIONS.


FAITH IN ACTION ALABAMA PARTICIPATED IN VOTER RIGHTS RESTORATION CAMPAIGN WITH ALABAMIANS FOR FAIR JUSTICE. VRRC WILL ADVOACTE FOR PASSAGE OF A STATE BILL THAT IF PASSED INTO LAW WOULD REMOVE SOME OBSTACLES TO VOTING FACED BY FORMERLY INCARCERATED ALABAMIANS. VRRC TEAM ENGAGES FORMERLY INCARCERATED INDIVIDUALS TO PROVIDE SUPPORT THEY NEED TO RESTORE THEIR CONSTITUTIONALLY GUARANTEED RIGHT TO VOTE.
