WILDLIFE HABITAT FEDERATION PROVIDES ON THE GROUND RESTORATION, MANAGEMENT AND GENERATIONAL SUSTAINABILITY OF PRAIRIE HABITAT FOR THE CONSERVATION OF SOIL, WATER, AIR AND WILDLIFE.

EDUCATION & PUBLIC OUTREACH: TO TEACH "ON-THE-GROUND" NATIVE HABITAT MANAGEMENT, RESTORATION AND THE VALUE OF ITS BENEFITS. 20 PRESENTATIONS WERE GIVEN TO PUBLIC AND PRIVATE ENTITIES, 119 SITE VISITS WITH LANDOWNERS OCCURRED, 36 HABITAT MANAGEMENT PLANS WERE COMPLETED AFFECTING 24,938 ACRES AND TECHNICAL GUIDANCE WAS PROVIDED FOR 31,568 ACRES.


ON-THE-GROUND IMPLEMENTATION: SERVICES PROVIDED TO LANDOWNERS FOR RESTORATION, PROTECTION OR ENHANCEMENT OF NATIVE HABITAT. ON-THE-GROUND RESTORATION ACTIVITIES IMPACTED 27,912 ACRES OF LAND OWNED BY 20 LANDOWNERS IN 21 TEXAS COUNTIES, OF WHICH 853 ACRES WERE PLANTED IN NATIVE PLANT SPECIES. WHF ASSISTED 5 LANDOWNERS IN APPLYING FOR GOVERNMENT CONSERVATION PROGRAMS.


NATIVE PRAIRIE SEED PROGRAM: HARVESTING OF LOCAL NATIVE PRAIRIE SEEDS TO INCREASE SEED AVAILABILITY TO LANDOWNERS IN TEXAS. TIME WAS INVESTED IN LOCATING QUALITY SEED SOURCES AND HAND COLLECTING VARIOUS LOCAL SPECIES.
