DC LEAP: OUR FLAGSHIP PROGRAM, PROVIDING SERVICES TO DOMESTIC VIOLENCE SURVIVORS OR METROPOLITAN DC, FOCUSES ON APPELLATE ADVOCACY AND CONSULTATION; CUSTODY AND ABUSE LITIGATION AND CONSULTATION; TRAINING PROFESSIONALS ON DOMESTIC VIOLENCE AND THE LAW; AND EFFORTS TOWARDS SYSTEMIC PUBLIC POLICY AND COURT REFORM.
NATIONAL PROGRAMMING: WORK HERE IS MADE UP OF THE FOLLOWING: 1) ALL STATES LITIGATION PROJECT: LITIGATES APPELLATE CASE FROM STATES ACROSS THE COUNTRY INVOLVING SIGNIFICANT DOMESTIC VIOLENCE ISSUES, PROVIDES TRAINING AND CONSULTATION OF A VARIETY OF DOMESTIC VIOLENCE TOPICS, AND ASSISTS IN LAW REFORM WORK IN OTHER STATES AS WELL AS THE FEDERAL LEVEL. 2) CUSTODY AND ABUSE PROJECT: LITIGATES SELECTED CASES FOR OUTSIDE METROPOLITAN DC INVOLVING CUSTODY AND ABUSE; PROVIDES CONSULTATION TO VICTIMS OF ABUSE AND THEIR ATTORNEYS FIGHTING TO KEEP CHILDREN SAFE THROUGH THE COURTS; CONDUCTS TRAINING AND PRESENTATIONS ACROSS THE COUNTRY; ENGAGES IN LAW REFORM EFFORTS; PUBLISHES ARTICLES AND RESEARCH SUMMARIES TO HELP THOSE SEEKING TO PROTECT CHILDREN AND ADULT VICTIMS OF ABUSE; AND WORKS ON FEDERAL LEGISLATIVE REFORM EFFORTS. 3) RIGHTS LITIGATION PROJECT: FILES FRIENDS-OF-THE-COURT BRIEFS IN SUPREME COURT CASES CONCERNING DOMESTIC VIOLENCE; DELIVERS PUBLIC PRESENTATIONS AND TRAINING TO NATIONAL AND LOCAL ADVOCATES AND INTERESTED SCHOLARS, CONCERNED CITIZENS AND ATTORNEYS; AND PUBLISHES BLOGS, MEDIA, AND SCHOLARLY ARTICLES REGARDING THE CONSTITUTIONAL RIGHTS LITIGATION AFFECTING VICTIMS OF DOMESTIC VIOLENCE.
