FEDERATION OF ORGANIZATIONS HOUSING DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM I, INC. (THE "PROJECT") IS A NOT-FOR-PROFIT ORGANIZATION. ITS PURPOSE IS TO PROVIDE HOUSING OPPORTUNITIES FOR PERSONS WITH MENTAL ILLNESS IN SUFFOLK COUNTY, NEW YORK. THE PROJECT'S FUNDING IS DERIVED PRIMARILY FROM RENTAL FEES PAID BY THE UNITED STATES DEPARTMENT OF HOUSING AND URBAN DEVELOPMENT ("HUD") AND TENANTS. THE PROGRAM ALLOWS UP TO 6 INDIVIDUALS WITH DISABILITIES TO LIVE INDEPENDENTLY IN THE COMMUNITY. THEIR RENT IS SUBSIDIZED THEREFORE ALLOWING THEM TO LEARN HOW TO MANAGE DAILY LIVING.
