ORGANIZATIONAL EFFECTIVENESSIMPACT AND ITS SUPPORTING ORGANIZATION, ACHIEVEMENTS UNLIMITED FOUNDATION (COLLECTIVELY THE "FOUNDATIONS"), RECOGNIZE THAT MANY NONPROFIT ORGANIZATIONS OFTEN LACK THE EXPERTISE AND FINANCIAL RESOURCES TO INVEST IN ORGANIZATIONAL ASSESSMENTS, STRATEGIC PLANNING AND HIGHLY EFFECTIVE FUNDRAISING TRAINING TO ENSURE THEIR ORGANIZATION'S EFFECTIVENESS AND LONG-TERM SUSTAINABILITY. THE FOUNDATIONS PARTNERED WITH DAKOTA MEDICAL FOUNDATION, AN UNRELATED NONPROFIT ORGANIZATION, THROUGH THE IMPACT INSTITUTE (INSTITUTE) TO PROVIDE SUPPORT, EDUCATION, TRAINING, AND COACHING SESSIONS FOR NONPROFIT PARTNER ORGANIZATIONS. HAVING ENCOURAGED MANY AREA NONPROFIT ORGANIZATIONS TO ATTEND THE INSTITUTE'S EDUCATION AND TRAINING PROGRAMS, IN 2021, THE INSTITUTE HELPED READILY-EQUIP 500 CHARITABLE ORGANIZATIONS TO SOLVE COMPLEX COMMUNITY CHALLENGES. WITH A PARTICULAR EMPHASIS IN FUNDRAISING, MANY CHARITIES CONTINUED THEIR PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT IN A FUNDRAISING CURRICULUM AND COACHING PROGRAM CALLED HIGH IMPACT FUNDRAISING. THIS PROGRAM WAS DEVELOPED TO BUILD A MASTERY OF FUNDRAISING AND LEADERSHIP. AS A RESULT OF PARTICIPATING IN FUNDRAISING TRAINING, A STUDY OF 21 NONPROFIT ORGANIZATIONS SHOWED COMMUNITY SUPPORT ON GIVING HEARTS DAY INCREASED OVER A TWELVE-YEAR PERIOD FROM $353,000 IN DONATIONS IN 2008 TO $2.5 MILLION IN DONATIONS IN 2021.GRANT WRITING SERVICES: SINCE 2005, THE FOUNDATIONS HAVE SUPPORTED GRANT WRITING ASSISTANCE FOR HEALTH-RELATED NONPROFIT ORGANIZATIONS TO GENERATE ADDITIONAL FINANCIAL RESOURCES FOR THEIR PROGRAMS. SINCE THE FORMAL ADDITION OF GRANT WRITING ASSISTANCE, THE FOUNDATIONS AND OTHER REGIONAL NONPROFIT ORGANIZATIONS HAVE SECURED OVER $28.9 MILLION IN GRANT FUNDING.


ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENTTHE FOUNDATIONS SUPPORT THE ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT OF NORTH DAKOTA COMMUNITIES BY INITIATING AND FUNDING VARIOUS INITIATIVES DIRECTED AT ASSISTING SMALL BUSINESSES LOCATED IN NORTH DAKOTA.IN 2007, IMPACT ENTERED INTO A 30-YEAR, $750,000 LOAN COMMITMENT WITH THE USDA OFFICE OF RURAL DEVELOPMENT UNDER ITS INTERMEDIARY RELENDING LOAN PROGRAM (IRP). IMPACT COMMITTED AN EQUITY CONTRIBUTION OF $187,500, EQUALING A TOTAL LOAN POOL OF $937,500, AVAILABLE TO QUALIFYING NORTH DAKOTA BUSINESSES AT LOW INTEREST RATES. DAKOTA BUSINESS LENDING (DBL), FORMERLY DAKOTA CERTIFIED DEVELOPMENT CORPORATION, PROVIDED A GRANT TO IMPACT TO MEET THE EQUITY REQUIREMENT UNDER THE TERMS OF THE USDA LOAN. DBL MANAGES THE DAY-TO-DAY OPERATIONS OF THE IRP UNDER AN AGREEMENT WITH IMPACT.SINCE INCEPTION, IMPACT HAS PROVIDED TEN (10) LOANS TO SMALL BUSINESSES IN RURAL COMMUNITIES, EQUALING MORE THAN $1,166,942. AS OF DECEMBER 31, 2021, IMPACT HAD ONE (1) LOAN OUTSTANDING WITH A TOTAL IRP LOANS RECEIVABLE BALANCE OF $6,652 (NET OF ALLOWANCE FOR DOUBTFUL ACCOUNTS OF $1,750), INCLUDED IN PART X, LINE 13, INVESTMENTS - PROGRAM RELATED AND SCHEDULE D PART VIII.


COMMUNITY SUPPORTIMPACT PROVIDES GRANTS TO SUPPORT COMMUNITY EVENTS, STATEWIDE NONPROFIT ORGANIZATIONS AND OTHER SOCIETAL IMPROVEMENT INITIATIVES. GRANTS WERE PROVIDED FOR THESE PURPOSES FROM ESTABLISHED IMPACT CHARITABLE FUNDS, OTHER GRANTS, AND DONOR CONTRIBUTIONS RECEIVED BY THE FOUNDATIONS. IMPACT PROVIDED FUNDING TO RESTOCK THE FOOD SHELTER AT GREAT PLAINS FOOD BANK THROUGH THE SUPPORT OF THE FARGO-BASED FILL-THE-DOME PROGRAM. THE FOUNDATIONS HAVE GIVEN BACK TO NORTH DAKOTA COMMUNITIES IMPACTED BY NATURAL DISASTERS AND ARE READY TO HELP COORDINATE AND PROVIDE FINANCIAL SUPPORT OF FUNDRAISING EFFORTS WHEN NEEDED.WHEN ALIGNED WITH ITS MISSION, IMPACT PROVIDES FISCAL SPONSOR PROJECTS (FSP) TO COMMUNITY GROUPS AND INDIVIDUALS DESIRING TO OBTAIN FINANCIAL OR OTHER SUPPORT FOR THEIR CHARITABLE PROJECTS THROUGH GRANTS, OR IN ORDER TO RECEIVE TAX-DEDUCTIBLE DONATIONS FROM INDIVIDUALS AND OTHER CONTRIBUTORS THROUGH THE SPONSOR. PROMOTING FINANCIAL LITERACY THROUGH EDUCATION REGARDING BUDGETING, HOME BUYING, INSURANCE, INVESTING, RETIREMENT PLANNING AND ESTATE PLANNING.BADGES OF UNITY (FSP) WORKS TO UNITE ALL COMMUNITY MEMBERS, BUILD TRUSTING RELATIONSHIPS WITH AT-RISK YOUTH, AND PARTNER WITH OTHERS TO ENSURE A BRIGHT FUTURE FOR ALL. BY WORKING TO STRENGTHEN CURRENT PROGRAMS AND CONNECTING YOUTH TO AFTER-SCHOOL ACTIVITIES IN THEIR NEIGHBORHOOD, NEW NON-TRADITIONAL, AFTER-SCHOOL ACTIVITIES HAVE BEEN DEVELOPED. THE FSP HOSTED "FARGO UNITED" EVENTS IN LOCAL PARKS WITH FOOD, MUSIC AND POSITIVE INTERACTIONS WITH LAW ENFORCEMENT.PAR 4 YOUTH GOLF (FSP) SUPPORTS THE PGA JUNIOR LEAGUE GOLF BY PROVIDING PLAYING OPPORTUNITIES, EQUIPMENT, AND FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE TO BENEFIT THOSE IN NEED.INNOVATIVE ND EDUCATION (FSP) WAS CLOSED IN 2021.RED RIVER MARKET (FSP) ORGANIZES A WEEKLY FARMERS' MARKET IN DOWNTOWN FARGO TO ENGAGE THE COMMUNITY AND PROVIDE ENTERTAINMENT, EDUCATION, AND HEALTHY EATING OPTIONS. THIS PROJECT WILL BE SEEKING ITS OWN 501(C)(3) STATUS IN THE FUTURE.SINNER BRESNAHAN HEALTHY KIDS INITIATIVE (FSP) IS A "GRASS-ROOTS" PROGRAM FORMED FOR THE PURPOSES OF ENGAGING THE YOUTH OF CASSELTON, NORTH DAKOTA, TOWARD POSITIVE SOCIAL RELATIONSHIPS.TECH4KIDS (FSP) WORKS TO SUPPORT CHILDREN THAT DO NOT HAVE ACCESS TO TECHNOLOGY IN THEIR HOME BY REPURPOSING USED LAPTOPS, IPADS, AND MACBOOKS FOR YOUTH IN NEED. CAPSTONE CLASSICAL ACADEMY (FSP) WAS OPENED IN DECEMBER OF 2021. THEY WERE FORMED FOR THE PURPOSE OF BRINGING A CAPSTONE CLASSICAL ACADEMY TO NORTH DAKOTA TO PROVIDE STUDENTS WITH A CLASSICAL CHRISTIAN EDUCATION PROGRAM AND OPPORTUNITIES TO ATTEND THROUGH FINANCIAL AID.THE NEXT STEP ND (FSP) SUPPORTS SURVIVORS OF HUMAN TRAFFICKING AND HELPS TO GET THEM ESTABLISHED BACK INTO THE COMMUNITY. FIRST TEE GREATER FARGO (FSP) WAS FORMED IN NOVEMBER OF 2021 FOR THE PURPOSES OF IMPACTING LIVES OF YOUNG PEOPLE BY PROVIDING EDUCATIONAL PROGRAMS THAT BUILD CHARACTER, INSTILL LIFE-ENHANCING VALUES AND PROMOTES HEALTHY LIFE CHOICES THROUGH THE GAME OF GOLF.EXCITE MUSIC (FSP) SUPPORTS A MISSION TO ENSURE THAT EVERY CHILD HAS THE OPPORTUNITY TO LEARN AND EXPERIENCE MUSIC, REGARDLESS OF ECONOMIC STATUS. EXCITE MUSIC OFFERS STUDENT PARTICIPANTS A VARIETY OF DIFFERENT WAYS TO ENGAGE WITH MUSIC THROUGH FREE AFTER-SCHOOL MUSIC LESSONS AND OPPORTUNITY TO ATTEND LOCAL MUSIC SCHOOLS.ADDITIONAL COMMUNITY SUPPORT:LEVELUP FARGO WAS A COMMUNITY COLLABORATIVE MOVEMENT (COALITION) WITH A DYNAMIC AND SIGNIFICANT GROUP OF KEY STAKEHOLDERS THAT ENGAGED MEMBERS ACROSS NUMEROUS SECTORS TO ADDRESS THE NEED TO REDUCE YOUTH SUBSTANCE ABUSE. THE COALITION WAS FORMED IN AUGUST 2015, AND A GRANT APPLICATION WAS SUBMITTED TO THE SUBSTANCE ABUSE AND MENTAL HEALTH SERVICES ADMINISTRATION (SAMHSA) IN MARCH 2016. ON AUGUST 31, 2016, LEVELUP FARGO WAS AWARDED A 5-YEAR, $625,000 GRANT FROM SAMHSA ($125,000 A YEAR FOR FIVE YEARS) WITH THE OPPORTUNITY TO APPLY FOR FIVE ADDITIONAL YEARS AT $125,000 PER YEAR. THE COALITION SUBMITTED A 12-MONTH ACTION PLAN TO SAMHSA, WHICH WAS APPROVED AND IMPLEMENTED. WITH THE HELP OF A MARKETING FIRM, LEVELUP FARGO AND FARGO PUBLIC SCHOOLS CREATED A SURVEY INSTRUMENT ADMINISTERED TO GRADES 6-12 TO ALL FARGO PUBLIC SCHOOLS, OAK GROVE LUTHERAN SCHOOL, AND JP II CATHOLIC SCHOOLS. THIS SURVEY, WHICH WAS ADMINISTERED BI-ANNUALLY, IDENTIFIED CURRENT MENTAL HEALTH NEEDS, SUBSTANCE USE TRENDS, AND PROVIDED A SOCIAL CAPITAL INDEX USED TO IMPROVE CONNECTEDNESS FOR FARGO YOUTH. THESE RESULTS WERE THEN COMPILED INTO AN ACTIONABLE REPORT AND DISSEMINATED THROUGHOUT THE FARGO COMMUNITY. THE LEVELUP FARGO PROGRAM ENDED IN SEPTEMBER 2021.DURING 2021, IMPACT PROVIDED ACCOUNTING SUPPORT TO THE RED RIVER CHILDREN'S ADVOCACY CENTER (RRCAC) INCLUDING PROCESSING WEEKLY ACCOUNTS PAYABLES, BIWEEKLY PAYROLL MANAGEMENT, GENERAL LEDGER AND PERIODIC FINANCIAL STATEMENTS, AND COORDINATING THE PREPARATION OF THEIR ANNUAL FORM 990.A VETERAN EMERGENCY CHARITABLE FUND CALLED SUPPORT OUR VETERANS (SOV), WAS ESTABLISHED AT IMPACT TO RECEIVE CHARITABLE CONTRIBUTIONS FROM DONORS AND TO SUPPORT THE EMERGENT NEEDS OF NORTH DAKOTA VETERANS AND THEIR ELIGIBLE DEPENDENTS WHO ARE NOT COVERED UNDER CURRENT FEDERAL OR STATE PROGRAMS. THE SOV FUND BEGAN A CAPITAL CAMPAIGN IN JULY OF 2021 TO SUPPORT THE CONSTRUCTION OF A FISHER HOUSE IN NORTH DAKOTA. SINCE INCEPTION, THE FUND HAS GENERATED $427,864 IN CONTRIBUTIONS AND PROVIDED ASSISTANCE TO 349 QUALIFIED VETERAN FAMILIES.


GIVEBACK INITIATIVEIN 2006, IMPACT LAUNCHED ITS GIVEBACK INITIATIVE TO INSPIRE DONORS TO SUBSTANTIALLY INCREASE AND IMPROVE THE IMPACT OF THEIR GIVING OF TIME, TALENT, AND TREASURE IN NORTH DAKOTA AND WESTERN MINNESOTA COMMUNITIES. GRANTS FROM DAKOTA MEDICAL FOUNDATION, ALEX STERN FAMILY FOUNDATION, BUSH FOUNDATION AND VARIOUS INDIVIDUAL AND CORPORATE CONTRIBUTIONS, HAVE PROVIDED THE FUNDING FOR THIS INITIATIVE. INITIATIVE STRATEGIES HAVE FOCUSED ON EDUCATION AND TRAINING FOR NONPROFIT ORGANIZATIONS TO BECOMING HIGHLY PROFICIENT FUNDRAISERS AND TO BE MORE OPERATIONALLY EFFICIENT AND EFFECTIVE. THE INITIATIVE HAS DEVELOPED NEW WAYS OF THINKING AND APPROACHES SURROUNDING WEALTH TRANSFER AND VOLUNTEERISM IN NORTH DAKOTA AND MINNESOTA.NORTH DAKOTA WEALTH TRANSFER: THE FOUNDATIONS INITIALLY COMMISSIONED AND FUNDED A NORTH DAKOTA WEALTH TRANSFER STUDY IN 2005, CONDUCTED BY THE CENTER ON WEALTH AND PHILANTHROPY AT BOSTON COLLEGE IN BOSTON, MASSACHUSETTS. IMPACT HAS DISTRIBUTED THE NORTH DAKOTA WEALTH TRANSFER STUDY TO DONORS, COMMUNITY LEADERS, NONPROFIT ORGANIZATIONS, ATTORNEYS, ACCOUNTANTS, FINANCIAL ADVISORS, BANKS, AND TRUSTED PERSONNEL IN SEVERAL NORTH DAKOTA COMMUNITIES. ANOTHER NORTH DAKOTA WEALTH TRANSFER REPORT WAS COMMISSIONED BY THE FOUNDATION IN 2011, "ENDLESS POSSIBILITIES ON THE PRAIRIE: UNLEASHING NORTH DAKOTA'S GREAT POTENTIAL" 2007-2061, AND ASSOCIATED DATA ENTITLED "COMMUNITIES WITH POSSIBILITIES". THE NEW STUDY CONCLUDED THAT THROUGH 2061 NORTH DAKOTA HOUSEHOLDS WILL GIVE OVER $95 BILLION TO CHARITY AND PAY AN ESTIMATED $39 BILLION IN ESTATE TAXES. THE SUPPLEMENT TO ENDLESS POSSIBILITIES IS THE FIRST EVER COUNTY LEVEL ANALYSIS OF NORTH DAKOTA WEALTH TRANSFER.IN 2012, IMPACT PRODUCED TWO EDUCATIONAL VIDEOS ABOUT THE NORTH DAKOTA WEALTH TRANSFER AND THE U.S. WEALTH TRANSFER. THE INITIATIVE'S PURPOSE IS TO PROVIDE VALUABLE INFORMATION TO NONPROFIT ORGANIZATIONS SO THAT THEY CAN DEVELOP THEIR FUNDRAISING TO INDIVIDUALS, WHO PROVIDE EIGHTY PERCENT OF THE FUNDING TO U.S. NONPROFITS THROUGH PRIVATE GIFTS.REGIONAL PHILANTHROPY STUDY: IMPACT COMMISSIONED THE REGIONAL HIGH IMPACT PHILANTHROPY STUDY IN 2016 TO GAIN A CLEARER VIEW OF WHY PEOPLE IN THE REGION GIVE MONEY AND TIME, HOW MUCH THEY GIVE, WHAT MOTIVATES THEM, AND SEVERAL OTHER ISSUES RELATED TO PHILANTHROPY, ESTATE PLANNING AND CHARITABLE CONTRIBUTIONS IN THE FARGO-MOORHEAD AREA. THE PHILANTHROPY STUDY COMPLEMENTS "ENDLESS POSSIBILITIES ON THE PRAIRIE: UNLEASHING NORTH DAKOTA'S GREAT POTENTIAL," WHICH PROVIDED AN OVERVIEW OF WEALTH TRANSFER AND PROJECTED WEALTH TRANSFER IN NORTH DAKOTA FROM 2007 TO 2061. THE PHILANTHROPY STUDY DATA WILL HELP AREA CHARITIES STRATEGICALLY POSITION THEMSELVES TO BE PART OF THIS PROJECTED WEALTH TRANSFER AND GIVE DONORS MORE INFORMATION ABOUT HOW THEY CAN DEEPEN THE IMPACTS OF THEIR GIFTS. THE ONLINE GIVING ENVIRONMENT IMPROVES EFFICIENCY TO RAISE FUNDS FOR NONPROFIT PROGRAMS SERVING THE REGION. THE ONLINE GIVING WEBSITE AT WWW.GIVINGHEARTSDAY.ORG IS USED TO PROMOTE THE ANNUAL DMF GIVING HEARTS DAY, EACH FEBRUARY, AND PROVIDES DONORS WITH AN EASY-TO-USE WEBSITE TO MAKE ONLINE CONTRIBUTIONS TO ALMOST 500 OF THEIR FAVORITE NORTH DAKOTA AND MINNESOTA CHARITABLE ORGANIZATIONS THROUGHOUT THE YEAR. SINCE IMPLEMENTATION IN 2008, THE GHD INITIATIVE HAS GENERATED NEARLY 427,000 CONTRIBUTIONS FOR COMMUNITY NONPROFIT ORGANIZATIONS TOTALING OVER $112 MILLION. DMF PROVIDED OVER $7 MILLION IN MATCHING FUNDS AND INCENTIVE GRANTS FOR PARTICIPATING ORGANIZATIONS SINCE INCEPTION OF THIS INITIATIVE. THE GIVING HEARTS DAY EVENT HELD IN FEBRUARY 2021, GENERATED 89,162 DONATIONS FOR 491 CHARITABLE CAUSES TOTALING OVER $22 MILLION IN A 24-HOUR PERIOD. THE PARTICIPATING NONPROFIT ORGANIZATIONS OBTAINED ADDITIONAL MATCHING FUNDS PRIOR TO THE EVENT. DURING 2021, DAKOTA MEDICAL FOUNDATION PROVIDED $423,097 IN MATCHING FUND AND INCENTIVE AWARD GRANTS TO PARTICIPATING NONPROFIT ORGANIZATIONS.
