TO PROVIDE HOMELESS COLLIES, SHELTIES AND MIXES OF THE BREEDS A SAFE HAVEN WHERE THEY WILL RECEIVE MEDICAL CARE, NUTRITION AND LOVE UNTIL THEIR APPROVED FOREVER HOMES ARE FOUND.

ALMOST HOME DOG RESCUE OF OHIO (AHDRO) RESCUED 105 DOGS IN 2022; 86 OF WHICH WERE COLLIES, 17 WERE SHELTIES AND 2 WERE MIXES. THE RESCUED DOGS CAME FROM SHELTERS, OWNER SURRENDERS AND STRAYS. AHDRO PLACED 82 DOGS WITH APPROVED ADOPTERS, 2 DOGS WERE CONSIDERED NON-ADOPTABLE AND PLACED IN THE SENIOR-TO-SENIOR PROGRAM AND 22 DOGS WERE IN FOSTER CARE WAITING FOR THEIR FOREVER HOME.
THE SENIOR-TO-SENIOR PROGRAM CONSISTS OF DOGS CONSIDERED NON-ADOPTABLE DUE TO AGE OR MEDICAL PROGRAMS. THESE DOGS ARE PLACED WITH PERMANENT SENIOR FOSTER. AHDRO UNDERWRITES ALL THE EXPENSES FOR THESE DOGS FOR THE REST OF THEIR LIVES. AT 12/31/22 THERE WERE 14 DOGS IN THE PROGRAM
AHDRO CONTINUED THE COMMUNITY SERVICE PROGRAM WHICH PROVIDED STRESS RELIEF FOR FRONT-LINE MEDICAL WORKERS. DOGS WERE TAKEN TO THE OHIO STATE UNIVERSITY MEDICAL CENTER AND TO ST. VINCENTS CARE UPON REQUEST. THE MEDICAL WORKERS INTERACT WITH THE DOGS FOR A BRIEF RESPITE FROM THEIR DUTIES. THESE SERVICES ARE PROVIDED TO THE WORKERS AT NO CHARGE.
