Describe the Organization's Program Activity:
Part 3
IN 2022, THE BUFFALO BROADCASTERS ASSOCIATION (BBA) CONTINUED TO WORK ON BEHALF OF THE COMMUNITY. EACH YEAR FOR THE PAST SEVERAL YEARS, BBA HAS SELECTED A SMALL NOT-FOR-PROFIT TO HELP WITH ITS IMAGING. THIS YEAR BBA SELECTED FAMILY PROMISE OF WNY, A 501-C3 WHICH WORKS WITH HOMELESS PERSONS. PUBLIC SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENTS WERE CREATED SO THE AGENCY COULD USE LOCAL CABLE AND TV CHANNELS TO SHOW THE COMMUNITY THE NEEDS AND WHAT THE AGENCY IS DOING TO HELP HOMELESS PEOPLE.IN APRIL, BBA HELD A JOB FAIR SPECIFICALLY DESIGNED TO CONNECT COLLEGE AND UNIVERSITY STUDENTS WITH THE RADIO AND TV STATIONS FROM BUFFALO AND NEARBY MARKETS WHICH WERE LOOKING FOR INTERNS AND POTENTIAL EMPLOYEES.BBA ALSO CONTINUED TO FOCUS ON THE MISSION OF DIGITIZING NEWS STORIES OF INTEREST WHICH HAD BEEN FILMED AND TAPED. SINCE FILM AND VIDEO TAPES FROM 15 TO 20 YEARS AGO ARE DIFFICULT TO USE, THOSE STORIES ARE CONVERTED INTO DIGITAL FORMATS WHICH ARE MORE READILY AVAILABLE TO STUDENTS AND RESEARCHERS. ONE HUNDRED EIGHTY U-MATIC TAPES WERE SENT TO BE DIGITIZED. IMPORTANT STORIES WILL BE POSTED TO THE NEW YORK STATE DOCUMENTARY AND HERITAGE WEB SITE.BUFFALO BROADCASTER ASSOCIATION ALSO ARRANGED FOUR CONVERSATIONS WITH MEDIA PROFESSIONALS SO STUDENTS AND COMMUNITY MEMBERS HAD THE OPPORTUNITY TO INTERACT WITH PEOPLE LIKE MARY LYNN RYAN FROM CNN, LES TRENT FROM INSIDE EDITION; KEVIN POLOWY, SENIOR CORRESPONDENT WITH YAHOO ENTERTAINMENT, AND MICKEY OSTERREICHER, AN ATTORNEY KNOWN FOR HIS WORK IN COPYRIGHT LAW.AT THE ANNUAL HALL OF FAME INDUCTION CEREMONY, $1,000 SCHOLARSHIPS WERE AWARDED TO 2 COMMUNICATIONS STUDENTS SELECTED FROM THOSE NOMINATED BY PROFESSORS FROM AREA COLLEGES AND UNIVERSITIES.BUFFALO BROADCASTERS ASSOCIATION CONTINUED IN YEAR 2022 TO WORK WITH STUDENTS AT BUFFALO STATE COLLEGE. BROADCASTING BUFFALO IS AIRED ON A LOCAL TV STATION. THIS PROGRAM GIVES STUDENTS EXPERIENCE IN ACQUIRING FOOTAGE, INTERVIEWING COMMUNITY LEADERS, WRITING STORIES, AND PRESENTING THEM ON AIR. IN ADDITION TO THE HANDS ON EXPERIENCE, IT IS A UNIQUE RESUME BUILDER.
