TOTAL CARE WAS A PREPAID HEALTH SERVICES PLAN LICENSED PURSUANT TO ARTICLE 44 OF THE NEW YORK STATE PUBLIC HEALTH LAW TO PROVIDE COMPREHENSIVE HEALTH SERVICES TO FOUR COUNTIES OF NEW YORK STATE UNTIL DECEMBER 1, 2013. TOTAL CARE SERVED AN ENROLLED POPULATION COMPRISED PRIMARILY OF MEDICAID BENEFICIARIES AND ALSO PARTICIPATED IN CHILD HEALTH PLUS (CHP) AND FAMILY HEALTH PLUS (FHP) PROGRAMS FOR LOW-INCOME, UNINSURED CHILDREN AND ADULTS. EFFECTIVE DECEMBER 1, 2013, TOTAL CARE RELINQUISHED ITS LICENSE TO OPERATE AS A PREPAID HEALTH SERVICES PLAN BUT CONTINUED TO EXIST AS A CORPORATE ENTITY.
