IN ADDITION, JOINING HEARTS AND HANDS, LTD. WORK TO RELIEVE DIFFICULT POVERTY CONDITIONS FOR AFRICAN CHILDREN AND THEIR FAMILIES BY PROVIDING IMPORVED EDUCATION OPPORTUNITIES, INITIATIVES, AND FACILITIES WHICH INCLUDE SAFE, STRUCTURALLY SOUND CLASSROOMS, CLEAN DRINKING WATER, SANITARY LATRINES, HEALTHY SCHOOL KITCHENS, ACCESS TO MEDICAL CARE, GOOD NUTRITIONAL FOOD SOURCES AND STUDENT SCHOLARSHIP RELIEF FOR THE NEEDY. IN ADDITION JOINING HEARTS & HANDS, LTD. PROMOTES SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT PROJECTS WHICH ENGAGE LOCAL SCHOOL COMMUNITY PARTICIPATION, OWNERSHIP, AND CONTINUAL IMPROVEMENT REVIEWS THROUGH TRAINING AND SKILL BUILDING WORKSHOPS - ALL TO ENHANCE ECONOMIC INDEPENDENCE, DIGNITY AND OPPORTUNITY. 250 STUDENTS, AN INCREASE OF 85 ADDITIONAL SCHOLARSHIPS OVER LAST YEARS WERE AWARDED PRIMARY, SECONDARY, AND UNIVERSITY SCHOOL TUITION AND SCHOOL FEE SCHOLARSHIPS FOR YOUNG PEOPLE IN NEED IN KENYA AND TANZANIA. EACH OF THESE STUDENTS LIVED IN IMPOVERISHED RURAL CONDTIONS, MANY ORPHANS WITH STRONG ACADEMIC PROMISE AND LITTLE FINANCIAL RESOURCES. FOR THE PAST 18 YEARS JOINING HEARTS & HANDS EXPANDED THE KENYA SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM TO ADDITIONAL GEOGRAPHIC AREAS IN KENYA, SUCH AS KERICHO, SINDO AND AHERO. CLASSROOM CONSTRUCTION: MANG'ULIRO PRIMARY AND SECONDARY SCHOOLS: JOINING HEARTS AND HANDS, LTD. COMPLETED THE REHABILITATION OF A THREE- CLASSROOM BLOCK AT MANG'ULIRO PRIMARY SCHOOL IN MALAVA, KENYA. NOW MANY CHILDREN HAVE BETTER LEARNING CONDITIONS. IN ADDITION, AT NEARBY MANG'ULIRO SECONDARY SCHOOL - A NEW COMPUTER LAB WAS EQUIPPED WITH WORKING TABLETOP DESKS WITH ELECTRICAL OUTLETS, NEW CHAIRS AND PROPERLY SECURED 20 NEW LENOVO NOTEBOOK COMPUTERS WERE INSTALLED ALONG WITH TRAINING AND MAINTENANCE LESSONS. HIGH SCHOOL AND JUNIOR HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS HAVE CLASSES IN THIS NEW FACILITY. STUDENT SCHOOL BATHROOM CONSTRUCTION: JOINING HEARTS AND HANDS, LTD. INITIATED CONSTRUCTION OF NEW, SANITARY, ACCESSIBLE STUDENT LATRINES FOR GIRLS AND FOR BOYS AT 2 PRIMARY SCHOOLS: LUFUMBO PRIMARY SCHOOL IN BUKURA, KENYA AND MBAKA OROMO PRIMARY SCHOOL IN MASENO, KENYA.
