THE MISSION OF THE DESMOND TUTU FOUNDATION IS TO USE DESMOND TUTU'S LIFE AND TEACHINGS TO INSPIRE YOUNG PEOPLE TO BUILD A WORLD OF PEACE WITHIN THEMSELVES, PEACE BETWEEN PEOPLE, AND PEACE AMONG NATIONS.

THE DESMOND TUTU LEGACY PROJECTS IS A GLOBAL EFFORTS SPEARHEADED BY DESMOND TUTU, MPHO TUTU AND THE DESMOND TUTU FOUNDATION TO INSURE THE ARCHBISHOP WORKS FOR PEACE, JUSTICE, AND EQUALITY CONTINUES FOR GENERATIONS TO COME. IN COLLABORATION WITH SEVERAL ORGANIZATIONS, PROGRAMS WERE CARRIED OUT SUCCESSFULLY THROUGHOUT THE YEAR INCLUDING TUTU BIRTHDAY CELEBRATION PROGRAM. THE AMOUNT OF EXPENSES LISTED ABOVE IS THE AMOUNT EXPENDED BY THE DESMOND TUTU FOUNDATION FOR THIS PROGRAM.


PEACE 3 PROGRAM THE FOUNDATION CONTINUES WITH ITS PEACE3 PROGRAM (PEACE WITHIN, PEACE BETWEEN AND PEACE AMONG) AS A CONCRETE WAY TO ADVANCE PEACEMAKING AWARENESS AND SKILLS THROUGH YOUNG ADULTS (AGE 17-22) TO COLABORATE WITH KINDRED ORGANIZATIONS AND ACHIEVE GREATER VISIBILITY ON THE GROUND. NEGUSWORLD PROGRAM THE DESMOND TUTU FOUNDATION CONTRIBUTED 1,000 (RESTRICTED) TO A THIRD PARTY PROGRAM: NEGUSWORLD. NEGUSWORLD HOLDS A YEARLY CELEBRATION DURING WHICH INDIVIDUALS AND ORGANIZATIONS AROUND THE GLOBE UNITE TO RAISE FUNDS FOR A THIRD-PARTY NON-PROFIT SERVING CHILDREN IN NEED.


TUTU THEN AND NOW PROGRAM - SHOWCASES THE WORKS OF 2 PHOTOGRAPHERS ON THE ICONIC LEGACY OF ARCHBISHOP DESMOND TUTU, ALLOWING PEOPLE TO VISUALLY UNDERSTAND THE CRITICAL ROLE THE ARCHBISHOP PLAYED IN ENDING APARTHEID AND AS AN ONGOING LEADER OF PEACE. THE PROGRAM WAS SUPPORTED BY TRINITY CHURCH WALL STREET IN NEW YORK AND WAS HELD IN DECEMBER 2016 IN ST. PAUL CHURCH IN NEW YORK CITY.


TUTU INSPIRES PROGRAM PROVIDES PHOTOGRAPHY WORKSHOPS FOR NEARLY 150 STUDENTS IN NEW YORK USING 2 PHOTOGRAPHERS' WORKS ON DESMOND TUTU TO TEACH STUDENTS WAYS TO USE PHOTOGRAPHY TO EXPRESS THEMSELVES AND RAISE AWARENESS OF SOCIAL ISSUES THEY CARE ABOUT.
