LFI OFFERS PRACTICAL PROCESSES AND IMAGINATIVE SOLUTIONS RESULTING IN ECOLOGICAL LAND USE PLANNING, LANDSCAPE ARCHITECTURE, PARTICIPATORY DESIGN WITH MULTIPLE, SYSTEMICALLY LINKED, INTERACTIVE, COMMUNITY AND SCHOOL PROGRAMS, WHICH ALSO FUNCTION AS COMMUNITY AND ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT FOR THE AREA, RESULTING IN TRANSFORMATION OF THE COMMUNITY.

THIS YEAR WE RECEIVED ANOTHER GRANT. WE ARE WORKING WITH 2 GRANTS IN NYC AND TWO GRANTS IN SF. IN SF, WE HAVE CONTINUED TO GROW OUR AFTERNOON/ SUMMER PROGRAM. WE HAD 20 YOUNGSTERS, LAST SPRING, AND MOST RETURNED IN SUMMER TO ACCEPT ROLES AS LEADERS. OUR SUMMER PROGRAM HOSTED 49 HIGH SCHOOLERS. IN NYC, WE TAUGHT 3 GARDENING CLASSES WEEKLY FOR CHILDREN. TWO WERE TAUGHT IN ENGLISH. THE THIRD WAS TAUGHT IN JAPANESE. THERE WERE UP TO 30 KIDS PER CLASS.IN SF, WE RESUMED WORKING ON SENECA AVENUE PLANTING TREES. WE HOPE TO RESTART THE CONSTRUCTION SOON. AS FOR OUR GREEN FUTURES INTERNSHIPS, WE WILL STOP PAYING INTERNS. OUR GRANT WAS ESTABLISHED BEFORE THE NEW LABOR AND HOURLY WAGE. WE NOW PARTNER WITH 4 NONPROFITS PAY THE INTERNS WE USE. FINALLY, IN NY WE CONTINUE TO GROW OUR GARDEN INTO A NATURAL POLLINATOR HABITAT. WE ARE WORKING WITH FORT MASON, AND THEY AGREE TO EXHIBIT BONNIE?S LIFE WORKS. IT IS SCHEDULED FOR MARCH 2024. OUR GROWTH CONTINUES!
