THE FOUNDATION'S ACTIVITIES INCLUDE INCREASING PUBLIC AWARENESS OF MOOD DISORDERS AND ITS TREATMENT. THE FOUNDATION HAS RESEARCH AND FUNDRAISING PURPOSES AND COMMUNICATIONS WITH OTHER RESEARCH COLLABORATORS. RESEARCH INVOLVES PERIODIC STATISTICAL ANALYSES OF A LARGE SAMPLE OF BIPOLAR AND UNIPOLAR DEPRESSED PATIENTS ON LITHIUM AND OTHER PSYCHOTROPIC DRUGS COLLECTED BY DR. FIEVE AND RESEARCH TEAMS OVER THE YEARS. THE OBJECTIVE OF THE RESEARCH IS TO DETERMINE WHETHER LITHIUM MAY PREVENT THE ONSET OR MINIMIZE THE COURSE OF NEURODEGENERATIVE DISEASES SUCH AS ALZHEIMERS, DEMENTIA-NOS, AMYOTROPHIC LATERAL SCLEROSIS, PARKINSON'S, AND STROKE, AS WELL AS CARDIOVASCULAR DISEASES. THE FOUNDATION IS DETERMINING WHICH RESEARCH INSTITUTION WILL INHERIT THE DATA TO CONTINUE THE RESEARCH.
