THE ORGANIZATION HAS ESTABLISHED AN INFRASTRUCTURE FOR RESEARCH AND EDUCATION IN ESTUARINE ECOLOGY OF THE HUDSON RIVER.OFFER INFORMED SETTINGS FOR PUBLIC ACCESS TO THE WATERFRONT AT MANHATTAN. INCREASE AWARENESS OF COMMERCIAL AND AESTHETIC VALUE OF SOUND ECOLOGICAL POLICY, PLANNING AND MANAGEMENT.THE RIVER PROJECT ALSO BEGAN YEAR ROUND OPERATIONS, DEVELOPED AN ON-GOING INTERNSHIP PROGRAM AND UPGRADED THE EXHIBIT AREA AND THE AQUARIUM. IN ADDITION, THEY WORKED WITH REGULATORY AGENCIES AND THE COMMUNITY BOARD TO SECURE PIER PERMITS.
