Describe the Organization's Mission:

Part 3 - Line 1

TO RESTORE HOPE AND DIGNITY TO QUALIFIED LOW-INCOME HOMEOWNERS BY REPAIRING THEIR HOMES AT NO COST TO THEM. OUR VISION IS FOR ALL PEOPLE IN OUR COMMUNITIES TO HAVE A WARM, SAFE, DRY, AND HEALTHY HOME.

Describe the Organization's Program Activity:

Part 3 - Line 4a

FOR 2021, WITH THE RESIDUAL EFFECTS OF COVID-19,WE WERE ABLE TO REPAIR 150 HOMES IMPACTING 335 INDIVIDUALS WHICH INCLUDED THE ELDERLY, SINGLE MOMS WITH KIDS AND THE DISABLED. WE MADE HOMES SAFER FOR THE ELDERLY BY REPAIRING STAIRS AND FLOORS AND INSTALLING BATHROOMS WITH GRAB BARS AND SAFE ACCESS. WE MADE HOMES HEALTHIER FOR FAMILIES BY REPAIRING LEAKING ROOFS AND WINDOWS AND STOPPING MOLD GROWTH. WE HELPED THOSE WITH DISABILITIES MORE EASILY GET AROUND BY INSTALLING RAMPS, DOORS,AND ROLL IN SHOWERS. WHILE PARTICIPATION BY VOLUNTEERS WAS IMPACTED BY THE PANDEMIC, MUCH OF THIS WORK WAS DONE BY 302 VOLUNTEERS WHO GAINED A BETTER UNDERSTANDING OF THE NEEDS OF THE COMMUNITY AND A FEELING OF CONTRIBUTING IN A MEANINGFUL WAY. DURING OUR ANNUAL YOUTH CAMP WE HAD 30 HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS HELPING REPAIR HOMES AND LEARNING THE VALUE OF GIVING BACK TO THE COMMUNITY. THIS REPAIR ACTIVITY TAKES THE CRUSHING BURDEN OF EXPENSIVE HOME REPAIRS OFF THE BACKS OF THESE FAMILIES SO THAT THEY DON'T HAVE TO CHOOSE BETWEEN FOOD AND MEDICINE OR GETTING THE ROOF FIXED. HOMELESSNESS DECREASES AS THESE HOMEOWNERS CAN NOW STAY IN THEIR HOMES. IN ADDITION, BLIGHT IS REDUCED, PROPERTY VALUES GO UP AND THE NEIGHBORING COMMUNITY IS ENHANCED. AS A RESULT OF THE WORK OF GOOD NEIGHBORS, THESE LOW-INCOME FAMILIES ARE NOW SAFER, HEALTHIER AND MORE HOPEFUL.
